In other news, Gennaro Gattuso has been sacked by FC Sion, the fifth manager to be sacked by FC Sion this season. Perspective.

Pellegrini vs Moyes haha. I wonder if David is still bitter about Manuel dashing Everton's CL dreams

Mancini is an average manager who is shit with the press and fights his own players. He'll never get another top job.

Wonder if United fans will still come out with this drivel in 2/3 years when they haven't won anything.
3 years not 1. Very important distinction since its my fucking point.

He certainly needs to learn to handle his players better, that may come with experience though, he hasn't been in management long and has spent most of his career in ridiculously pressurised jobs where style and philosophy have always come second to success. He needs some time to process what he's learned for me, jumped straight into management from his playing career, hasn't missed a season for 32 years ffs!

EDIT: That's wrong actually, he had a year off between Inter and City.

What do you mean? I was referring to the two spanish twats behind the scenes at city with delusions of recreating their barca project. A manager should manage and be judged on their record. One season without a trophy but still finishing second isnt a sackable offense especially when they won it the season prior. 8 years on the other hand...
It's a sign of ambition though, we've identified a weak area early on and looked to rectify it. As Cule said, Mancini's progression with this side had stalled, and as much as I love the guy and was sceptical of his sacking, I had a gut feeling that sacking him would be the right decision once I'd put my emotions aside. Performances on the pitch haven't been up to standard despite being fairly good in terms of results, we've not been the side we should be, on paper you look at our side and wonder how we're 13 points behind United and losing a cup final to a side who is going to be playing Championship football next season. It may look like a knee jerk decision because of our failure to win something this year, but the decision is based on the long term, I can guarantee you Pellegrini won't be sacked next season if he fails to win a trophy.
The last sentence pretty much sums up the situation. They want and will stand by a manager that hasnt proven himself at the club, but wont afford a man that has the same support. All because some cretin in the shadows prefers one set of tactics. Thats no way to run a club.

Imo Mancini should have been given at the very least another full season.

He spunked 34m on Rodwell, Garcia and Sinclair in the summer, that money should have been spent much more wisely and not just on pure squad filler. He also failed horrendously in the CL as he has did at Inter.

Yep, atrocious signings. Proper big clubs improve the first XI every season.

The transfers weren't anything to do with Mancini, Marwood made those decisions. Mancini made it clear his targets were RVP, Hazard and co, Marwood fucked up and we were left with panic buys.

Rodwell looks like he could be a good buy for the future though, incredible physical specimen.

Manchester City had planned to instigate an extensive sacking programme even before Roberto Mancini's departure from the club was confirmed.

The club's chief executive, Ferran Soriano, and the director of football, Txiki Begiristain, have decided the faults in the existing coaching staff go all the way down to youth level and will make their point ruthlessly.

City's directors have decided Paul Power, who made more than 400 appearances for the club during 11 years as a City player, should be moved on from his coaching role with the juniors. The club will also take the controversial step of severing ties with Jim Cassell, another key figure from their past as the man who led City to the FA Youth Cup in 2008.

Cassell's highly successful time in charge of the youth academy coincided with 27 different players graduating to the first-team, including Shaun Wright-Phillips, Stephen Ireland, Daniel Sturridge, Michael Johnson, Micah Richards and Nedum Onuoha.

He was moved to a new role in 2009 to head up the creation of a new academy scheme in Abu Dhabi, but it is understood he has already been told he has no place at the club under the new regime.

Soriano and Begiristain have also begun the process of replacing Adam Sadler, who coaches the Under-18s, and Pete Lowe, the head of education and coaching, as it becomes increasingly clear the former Barcelona executives have decided there should be sweeping changes.
