![]() DANIEL LEVY has slapped a £100million price tag on Spurs superstar Gareth Bale. Chairman Levy is demanding a world-record fee for the flying 23-year-old. And he hopes the mind-boggling sum will frighten off the chasing pack, which includes Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. The Sun revealed yesterday that new Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is determined to make Bale his first big signing. But Levy wants to keep the 22-goal Welsh wizard for at least another year. Failure to land a lucrative Champions League spot for next season, however, could force him to change his mind. Bale returns from an ankle injury today as Spurs host Manchester City in a must-win game for the Londoners. Defeat would leave them FIVE points behind Arsenal, while Chelsea could go SIX points clear of Spurs with victory at Liverpool today. That would leave their top-four hopes looking perilous — increasing the likelihood of Bale quitting. |

Bollocks, they'd let him go for 30-40million. |

I don't think they'd accept any less than £50million, probably more unless he tries to force a move away. |

£60m and he's gone tbh. Maybe £40-50 if he publicly expresses his desire to leave. |

Now Real Madrid have their manager in place, they have turned their attention to tempting Gareth Bale to join them from Tottenham. And in order do that, The Times report, they will offer Gonzalo Higuain and Fabio Coentrao as makeweights in a players-plus-cash deal. Higuain is an especially controversial player to propose to Spurs, as it is believed that the Argentine striker is on the brink of joining north London rivals Arsenal. But the paper says that in 2011 Andre Villas-Boas attempted to sign Higuain – when he was manager at Chelsea. Spurs are in the market for at least one striker this summer, so Higuain’s proven class could tempt them – while 25-year-old Coentrao, a £24m acquisition for Madrid just two years ago, still appears to have his best years ahead of him. The Times decline to mention how much the ‘plus-cash’ part would be if Higuain and Coentrao were included in the deal, but repeated the estimate of £85m for a straight cash deal. The Daily Mirror have the very same idea of a player-plus-cash bid for Bale, but a different player – Angel di Maria. Di Maria, 25, is the player most likely to make way in the Real Madrid first team if Bale arrives – but has won praise across Europe for his fine performances in a white shirt and could soften the blow of losing Bale if he turns up at White Hart Lane. Omg please happen.

A vocal group of Real Madrid fans hijacked the club’s unveiling of their new £34 million signing Asier Illarramendi to demand that the Spanish side make a move for Gareth Bale. No less than 5,000 Madridistas were welcomed into the Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon for the official presentation of Illarramendi, who this week joined the club from Real Sociedad for an astronomical fee. Madrid president Florentino Perez was greeted warmly, as was the club’s new midfielder, but some supporters also made their feelings clear regarding Bale. Marca reports that a contingent within the thousands amassed in the cavernous stadium started chanting “Queremos a Bale” (“We want Bale”) at Perez. Bale has been linked with a potential move to the Bernabeu all summer after finishing last season as the PFA Player of the Year, the PFA Young Player of the Year and the Footballer of the Year. His prolific and devastating season for Tottenham drew comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo and it appears the Madrid faithful want to see him installed alongside the former Manchester United man. Perez claimed in May that “Bale was born to play in Madrid” but as yet there has been no confirmation of any contact between the clubs. |

Looking at the comments in this thread you've got to say fair play. No one believed they'd hold out for the record fee. |

His value did increase a little since April though with a couple of stunning/vital goals. |

By £45m? If they get the £105m reported then take away that month and they'd still be getting a record fee.

The highest valuation on here was Ants at £60m so the increase on comments would be at least £45m. From Spurs point of view it's clear they wouldn't have sold for less regardless of that last month. |

Never disputed that mate. I agree with what you're saying. I was just highlighting the point that people don't look quite as silly as it seemed. |
