What are you talking about? There are no trophies for top 4.
Arsenal winning the PL would be close to the equivalent of Newcastle finishing in the top four. Actually, it's probably a far tougher task for Arsenal to win the PL. Please don't talk about the FA Cup or League Cup, both of those are absolutely meaningless unless they go with the PL/CL. Scratch that, League Cup is meaningless full stop.

ARE YOU MAD???

Only the ELITE teams can win either the PL or CL and how someone can turn their nose up the League Cup let alone the FA Cup after 8 trophyless seasons is just staggering. . . . .

I still have nightmares after the CC final defeat two years ago it is something I find difficult to accept

Nope, different priorities, that's all. I'd rather a team that won trophies.
Don't hear you calling for Pardew to be sacked for not making top four.
Don't hear him calling his side title contenders every season either.
Nobody calls Arsenal title contenders. . .

Since 2011 we've been a million miles away from the Manchester clubs and since 2005 we have always been massive ranked outsiders to compete for the title but obviously I did state that last season we could challenge for the title.....before RVP left :oi:

I correctly predicted that RVP's sale would have no affect on our league position or CL campaign.

Can't be assed searching previous years but I can guarantee I'd find them.

Edit - P.S. That was just the first two pages on a Google search.

Season's not over yet, don't count your chickens you arrogant muggle. If everyone won their games in hand and the season stopped now you'd be out of the top 4.

Not possible, not that it matters.

Why cos Spurs play Chels? Even if that were the game in hand you've conveniently chosen, if Spurs won that one and Chelsea their other game in hand, you'd still be 5th. You're quite right though, not that it matters, BECAUSE THE SEASON HASN'T FINISHED YET SO LET'S STOP TALKING ABOUT HYPOTHETICALS SHALL WE?!

Wenger set to sign new long-term deal

Arsene Wenger is ready to commit his long-term future to Arsenal and has held preliminary contract talks with the club.

The Frenchman's current deal expires next season and he was linked earlier this summer with Paris St Germain, who eventually appointed Laurent Blanc as Carlo Ancelotti's successor.

But Wenger told several national newspapers: "I am committed to staying longer at this club. I've already had a chat with Ivan. It went very well, not a problem.

"The link with PSG is there because I'm French and I know the owners. But if that was the case then I would be there already. I'm not at PSG because my heart is with Arsenal."

Wenger's Arsenal are without a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup but Wenger believes that after several years which have seen them unable or unwilling to match the biggest players in the transfer market, they can now compete.

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Liverpool's Luis Suarez have been mentioned as possible attacking targets along with Real Madrid's Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain.

And Wenger said: "They are all realistic targets quality-wise, but not all of them are available to join us. We have better financial resources than the years before and it is resources we have created ourselves.

"That is massively important to us. For years we were out of the race for the top-level transfers but we are coming back now because we are in a better financial situation and also because of Financial Fair Play.

"I knew when I committed to my last contract and the contract before that the club were going through a very sensitive period, because we had less financial resources and the challenge was to stay at the top and in the Champions League during that period.

"We are coming out of that period and I hope in the next two or three years the club will be competing for the Premier League."

The landscape facing the Gunners in that battle has changed significantly with the appointment of new managers at all of last season's top three, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

And Wenger said: "This is the biggest change in the top four in all the time I've been with Arsenal. Is the league more open than before? We don't know, nobody knows.

"But we've got the most stability and we hope to take advantage of that. There was a big gap between us and Manchester United last season and our challenge is to bridge that gap.

"But you go to Manchester City, they will want to win the league. You go to Manchester United, it's the same, to Liverpool, to Chelsea, everybody will want to win the league."

:laughcry: :laughcry: :laughcry: This cunt is stealing a living ffs.

How so? He's done an immense job at Arsenal. Look at Mancini ffs, won the title and was still screaming for money and for more players and used it as an excuse for losing the title whereas Wenger has quietly gone about his business without moaning or lashing out on some shitty Arsenal fans.

Lad's a fucking Marvel comic hero.
