A few of those constraints are self imposed.
Elaborate.

I repeat, the difference between us is we have "different priorities, that's all. I'd rather a team that won trophies."<br /><br />Fuck me.
Well that's fucking nonsense, because there isn't a manager in the world who would have won the PL title with Arsenal with the constraints Wenger has had to work with.
Mourinho would have.

His philosophy of developing talent than buying the finished product being the biggest one. There is an economic factor to this but there is also a clear unwillingness to spend big money (£20m+).

That mentality is whats facilitated arsenals "demise" in recent years. If they made a significant investment a year or so after moving stadiums they would have been able to improve their squad, league position, convince stars like cesc to stay with the increased revenue from performances allowing nasri and maybe even rvp to renew their contracts under a new bigger wage structure. I know the initial investment comes from the board, but I also know Wenger would never propose such a big outlay despite the potential benefits because of his frugal nature and the scrutiny he would be under if it didnt work.

Look at united, even though the debts sky high our owners realised that success on the pitch is paramount and sanctioned huge transfer kitties. £100m in 2 summers before we sold Ronaldo. We are still in £300bn debt but we continue to be linked with players like Falcao and Bale for £40m. Thats because we understand that all the commercial revenue, gate receipts, tv money and merchandising means fuck all when you dont have a world class team.

I know youre waiting for the day when Arsenal break even and Wenger will start cherry picking the best players in the world. But by then the damage would be done and if by some miracle Messi wants to join, it will be Wenger not the board that baulks at the transfer fee.

No, it's fucking rubbish and based on the the premise of Wenger controlling the board and making all the decisions. Absolute nonsense.

I went for unsure. Maybe if he was to sign a one year deal after his contract expires in 2014, I would not want to see him on a long term deal for his sake because he's looked like a bag of shit at times this season.

FA Cup final is the same day as the Copa Del Rey final. I hope I don't have to miss Arsenal.

He's going to finish above Chelsea for the 2nd season in a row with a far worse squad...

The arsenal boards full of very intelligent people, that understand what I suggested in my post and its implications far more than I care to delve into. But they dont understand the technical aspect of football and like any good board leave footballing decisions in the hands of the manager. Decisions like who to buy. But Wenger is an economics man so his concern with financial matters may influence his footballing decisions.

This is why you get statements from the arsenal board reassuring fans that there is money available but only if Wenger wants it. I know these statements are usually hollow words but I take them as genuine attempts to push Wenger into making purchases. And every summer Wenger, instead of taking the money and going on a shopping spree he cant help but feel restrained by the bank balance. So you sell to buy.

Thats Arsenal FC's biggest problem, and IMO its totally self inflicted.

Things are little bit more complex than that Moe.

No shit. Im just saying that some of the constraints DaG mentioned earlier are self imposed, with the biggest one being Wenger not being more aggressive in the transfer market despite your financial situation.
