Balotelli? Fuck are you on about mate, he came from the PL. Going to cost at least two and a half times what Milan paid for him to take him.
When he left for City.
Fair enough. 150k per week though.

I assume he's on about when those players were signed. Verratti joined PSG from Pescara for around 10m, Balotelli joined City for £20m ish. Not sure what the SES reference is about though. Maybe it's "too late" again :cheek:

Verratti was good value in hindsight, but he was a player that hadn't played a single game in Serie A. Balotelli was nothing more than a prospect when we signed him, very young, very raw, a massive gamble. Neither represents brilliant value as such.
"SES" represents the price being touted around for him.

Verratti will be amazing value in hindsight come 4-5 years. Sure Balotelli was raw but he had immense talent, and, provided the club was confident of their ability+management, was no risk.

Not at all, makes your point about there being value in Italy shit when you name players like Balotelli who are managed by wankers like Raiola. Clubs like Arsenal and United won't do business with that sort.

City were offering crazy wages back then too. Wouldn't happen these days.

Pretty sure the figure being quoted for SES this summer was going on 35-40m. He'd never be sold for 20-25m. It's hard to talk about transfer fees because of the French clubs paying way over the top, but Marquinhos' transfer this summer was a reflection of the poor value in Serie A at the moment.

Yet we'll do business with Mendes and sign Bebe for £8M? :laughcry: :laughcry: :laughcry:

And by the way, we were after Balotelli and we tried to do business with him+Pogba. And Arsenal did business with him with Bergkamp.

Bossing, as per ffs. This is unreal bossing.

Could have said Cavani too, €64m, would have further enforced my point. But generally you won't get many examples, there weren't many big transfers out of Serie A this summer, because they have very few good players left in the league. SES, Hamsik et al would all command a large fee. Hamsik, a player who's roughly on the same level as Cazorla when he left Malaga, would cost three times more than what Cazorla did.

Could have said Falcao but thought leave it considering it were sugar daddy clubs, ie. clubs ripe for the picking, that signed them.

This is going nowhere. Too many variables when considering transfer fees; the club buying, the club selling, age, position etc. You're way too stubborn to accept that you've cocked up though, it's obvious to the majority of people who've looked at European football for the last few years would tell you the value is in Germany and Spain.

Arsenal have out performed their wage spend in 7 out of 10 seasons. Better than ANY other club.

Between 2000-2012, Chelsea spent £570m cash (net) on transfers. Arsenal have spent just 10% of that c.£57m

In 15/17 seasons, Arsène has out-performed on results v resources. Statistically, worst season was 2005/06, where we reached UCL final!

2000-12 Cumulative Net Transfer Spend:
Chelsea £570m
City £523m
Liverpool £268m
United £206m
Tottenham £157m
Arsenal £57m

2000-12 Cumulative Net Spend on Wages:
Chelsea £1.5bn
United £1.22bn
Arsenal £1.06bn
Liverpool £1.007bn
City £845m
Tottenham £620m

Between 2000-12 Chelsea never outperformed in terms of wage-bills i.e. ranking in wages higher than final league position. Staggering.

In the same period, Arsenal underperformed based on wage-bill only twice (2005-06 & 2006-07). We reached UCL Final in '06! Phenomenal.

So in a nutshell, how exactly are Fifa going to stop teams like Man City and Chelsea buying their way to the league every other season???
