Ok picture this scenario: You are sitting in a room with the SPL and SFL officials and one of the officials turns round and asks you.....

"What changes need to be made in order to increase popularity towards Scottish football?"

Join the English League, without that they have no chance. The country is just too small to compete in a globalised game.

Winner.

Yep, there's no way it can be improved to any great degree. The simple fact that it's right next to the biggest and most well marketed league in world football puts an end to any hopes of trying to establish it on a wider scale.

Leave it be. Considering the size of Scotland and it's stature they have a pretty decent league.

Elcule took the words out of my fingers. But saying that, would it really be achievable for Plymouth fans to be travelling to Edinburgh? Would we want to kill the game that much just for the sake of accommodating a few extra clubs that the English leagues don't really want or need? Only Celtic and Rangers would be of benefit to English league football.

What makes Scotland think they're so special anyway? I don't see people in Moldova asking how they can improve their league and asking whether joining the Ukranian league is feasible.

That's because Moldova isn't part of the same kingdom/country as Ukraine.

Not much can be done. It's hardly attractive place for premium foreign players, hosting only two major cities, both of which are shit in comparison to Manchester/London, there is no money circulating in the game, the fans aren't as rich, or there aren't as many, as those/there are in London/Manchester/Liverpool thus increasing revenue is toughy.

It always be a relatively mediocre league.

Moldovan clubs haven't been playing in Europe for decades. Celtic and Rangers might be shadows of their former selves but they are big names in European football, I assume they'd like to recapture that.

Also Plymouth to Newcastle is a bit of a bloody trek, Edinburgh and Glasgow are only another 1.5 hours up the train line. If you're prepared to do Plymouth to Newcastle don't see why you wouldn't do Plymouth to Edinburgh. Edinburgh's a class city BTW. Poor argument, distances between clubs in France and Germany are comparable if not further. eg - Calais - Marseilles, Hamburg - Munich.

Yeah, don't know why I said Edinburgh was a shit city, it is a pretty good city. I went up there for a Uni Open day and they are relatively, for Scots, classy people too. Beautiful buildings.
