Mark Hughes sacked by QPR Queens Park Rangers have confirmed they have terminated the contract of manager Mark Hughes. Hughes has overseen a terrible run of form despite extensive investment in the playing squad this summer and leaves the club with QPR bottom of the table and without a win in their opening 12 games. Though owner Tony Fernandes repeatedly stated his confidence that Hughes could turn things around, he has taken action on the eve of a Premier League game away at Manchester United. A statement read: "Queens Park Rangers Football Club has today (Friday) terminated the contract of manager Mark Hughes with immediate effect. This decision has been taken after careful consideration by the board of directors, following numerous meetings over the last few days. "The board of directors wish to thank Mark for his commitment, hard work and dedication in his ten months in charge. "Mark has shown integrity and professionalism throughout his time here, but ultimately the circumstances we find ourselves in have left the board of directors with very little choice but to make a change. "The board will now be working actively to put a new managerial structure in place as soon as possible. "Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki will take charge of the R's trip to Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday afternoon." Betting has already been suspended on Harry Redknapp taking over at Loftus Road, despite the former Tottenham boss holding talks with Ukraine about the national job. The Daily Mail reports that Redknapp will be appointed QPR's new boss imminently and will officially take charge on Sunday. Hughes was appointed Rangers boss in January 2012 following the sacking of Neil Warnock. He steered the side to safety on the final day of last season, despite a 3-2 defeat to Manchester City, and promised that the club would not find themselves in that position again. His failure to integrate a large intake of new players in the first four months of the season meant he was unable to keep to that promise though. |

Had to act now to get Harry in which is what they had planned all along for when Hughes was eventually sacked. Being apparently in talks over the Ukraine job forced them to get it done now. Great appointment though. Hopefully he can actually get a good group of players to play well. |

1. Because he's a bellend. 2. Because surely you can name three PL clubs you'd rather see relegated? At least QPR add something to the PL, even more so now that they have Redknapp and a fairly good set of players. They have money to spend so Redknapp's eyes will be lighting up, and the PL will be a lot better for it. |

Sky Sports understands Harry Redknapp has agreed a deal to succeed Mark Hughes as Queens Park Rangers manager. Hughes was sacked as Rangers boss on Friday morning with the club rooted to the bottom of the table and without a win in the Premier League this term. The future of Hughes at Loftus Road had been in severe doubt since last weekend's defeat at home to fellow strugglers Southampton, with fans calling for Redknapp to replace him. The QPR board have now decided to wield the axe and have turned to Redknapp to save their season. Redknapp is thought to be in advanced talks and is the only candidate that the club's board are considering. Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki will take charge for the match away to Manchester United on Saturday and Sky Sports understands Redknapp will formally take control of first-team affairs after this weekend's clash at Old Trafford. Redknapp has been out of work since leaving Tottenham in June and he has been linked with a number of jobs since, but he is now poised to get back into management at Loftus Road. Hughes only narrowly avoided relegation after taking over from Neil Warnock in January. A QPR statement read: "The board of directors wish to thank Mark for his commitment, hard work and dedication in his ten months in charge. "Mark has shown integrity and professionalism throughout his time here, but ultimately the circumstances we find ourselves in have left the board of directors with very little choice but to make a change. "The board will now be working actively to put a new managerial structure in place as soon as possible Edited by Homer, Nov 23 2012, 03:14 PM.

Mark Bowen should have been sacked too ffs he's Hughes' right hand man and he's been there every step of the way. What a shit decision, get Redknapp in nowwwww. P.S. I still fancy QPR to trouble United anyway, I could never see the 4-0 and 5-0s happening that people were predicting, but this surely gives QPR an extra boost. |

This has robbed me of 2 points in the prediction league but good news none the less. Credit to Hughes for tricking everybody into thinking he's a good manager by pretending to be too good for the likes of Fulham. |

I am never worried about a team upsetting United. It's such a ridiculously non-sensical premonition. What annoys me more is when people (i.e. Homer) just do it due to some warped idea that being presumptuous might actually affect your side's fortunes. I fully expect us to win this weekend. The bottom line is QPR are the worst team in the league. If they managed to beat us, you might say I'd look a mug, but I can assure you that I would look far less a mug than anyone who predicted us to lose. I applaud Joe's arrogance towards Barcelona; I'll leave this disgusting guesswork to the Homers of the world. |
