Here is the 23 player shortlist:

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
Mario Balotelli (Manchester City)
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
Sergio Busquets (Barcelona)
Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)
Didier Drogba (Chelsea, now Shanghai Shenhua)
Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan, now Paris-SG)
Andres Iniesta (Barcelona)
Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich)
Neymar (Santos)
Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid)
Gerard Pique (Barcelona)
Andrea Pirlo (Juventus)
Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Yaya Toure (Manchester City)
Robin van Persie (Arsenal, now Manchester United)
Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid)
Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona)

Obviously Messi is going to win this. Absolutely unreal, 4 Ballon d'Ors in a row.

Good list for once, no notable exclusions apart from Kompany which is a bit of a howler.

Come on Ronnie!!!

Kompany shouldn't be there, neither should Balotelli or Neuer.

PL Champ and match winner at the Euros. Deserved inclusion. Komps should be there instead of RVP.

RVP Should be top 10, possibly even top 5. Neuer is mind-boggling, he's done little to nothing.

Bonucci should be there ahead of Kompany. Undefeated with Juve in Serie A in 2012, played well at the Euros, started this season in very good form (better than Kompany).

RVP has no place in this list. Major flop at the Euros and couldn't even lead his side to a top two finish or a trophy. Look at the names on that list, the vast majority actually contributed to a major trophy.

Winner.

He was easily the best player in the best league in the world last season and has instantly come in and been Man United's best player so far this season.

Ronaldo finished 6th in 2010. Won nothing at Madrid, utter shit WC performances.

Balotelli shouldnt be there. Isnt even the 2nd best striker at his club.

People saying Messi should win it are mostly basing it on the fact that hes the best player, and even though he scored 70+ goals he didnt have a better season than Ronaldo.
