Samuel Eto'o will return to Cameroon's international setup after he ended his self-imposed exile from the national side.

The striker missed his side's 2-0 African Cup of Nations qualifer defeat to Cape Verde, but will be available for the return leg after meetings with coaching staff and Prime Minister Philemon Yang.

The striker revealed his U-turn with a statement on his official website, where he explained his desire to help to help his country in the future.

"On the request of the highest authority of the Republic, I make myself available to the Indomitable Lions," he said.

"I am encouraged by my desire to serve my country with the same faith, ardour and determination of 15 years ago."

Manager Song Bahang and coach Jean Paul Akon were both present at the negotiations, and Eto'o who has scored 53 goals in 109 appearances for his country, believes that he can work alongside his coaching team to bring more success to one of Africa's most successful sides.

"I met with the state authorities recently to discuss the present situation of football in Cameroon, and specifically the national team," he added.

"I am convinced that together, putting aside other interests for the country, we are capable, with God's assistance, of giving Cameroon football the panache and shine of old."
