20: Xherdan Shaqiri (Basel to Bayern - €13m)

Posted Image

The Bavarians were keen to snap up the 20-year-old, and tied up a deal back in February. He has shown considerable promise with the Swiss club, and it came as no surprise when one of Europe's top clubs came calling. If he continues his rise, the reported fee could end up looking cheap. However, he will be part of a very competitive Bayern squad this season, and will have to be at his very best to earn a place in the side

19: Oscar (Internacional to Chelsea - €31.5m)

Posted Image

Everybody likes a flashy Brazilian, and Blues owner Roman Abramovic is certainly no different. It has been a summer of high-profile transfers at Stamford Bridge, and the 20-year-old certainly falls under that category. Full of skill and with the ability to unpick the tightest of defences, he could prove to be a valuable asset to Roberto Di Matteo. However, West London may be nice, but it is not Brazil, and there may well be issues with how the youngster adapts, especially if he finds himself out of the first team.

18: Granit Xhaka (Basel to Monchengladbach - €8.5m)

Posted Image

Big, strong, creative in attack, destructive in defence. You can scarcely believe that the domineering midfielder is just 19 years old. Lucien Favre put together a very competitive side last season, and the Switzerland international should have no problems in becoming a vital part of it. Having represented his country at every youth level, it was only a matter of time before he was snapped up, and at a reported €8.5m he could prove to be an absolute steal.

17: Hugo Lloris (Lyon to Tottenham - €15m)

Posted Image

It was a traditional summer-long chase for Spurs, but they finally got their man. After the comical Heurelho Gomes years, Brad Friedel was brought in for a bit of stability, but chairman Daniel Levy can now say that he finally has a world-class goalkeeper at White Hart Lane. A very solid performer for the French club over the years, Lloris should have no problems at all in the Premier League, and will prove to be a cornerstone of the Andre Villas-Boas era.

16: Luka Modric (Tottenham to Real Madrid - €35m)

Posted Image

It was Modric or bust for Madrid, and they finally got their man after the summer's most drawn-out yet inevitable transfer. The Croatian has long pulled the strings for Spurs, and has finally been rewarded for his fine performances with a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world. He has said he can play anywhere in midfield, and that versatility may come in handy in his first few months in the Spanish capital. The fee may seem steep, but Jose Mourinho's top targets often prove priceless.

15: Walter Gargano (Napoli to Inter - loan)

Posted Image

The Nerazzurri have added some very useful players to their ranks this summer, and the combative Uruguayan certainly falls into that category. After spending five years in Serie A with Napoli, he should have no problems adjusting to life at San Siro, where he will add extra energy and grit to what was all too often a flimsy midfield last season. He may only be on loan, but he should prove to be a very assured purchase for an increasingly impressive-looking Inter side.

14: Javi Martinez (Athletic to Bayern €40m)

Posted Image

Still only 23, the Spain international has been around for years, and should have no problems slotting into the Bayern side thanks to his experience. His partnership with Bastian Schweinsteiger is mouth-watering, as is the potential to take on Franz Beckenbauer's Munich mantel. For such a fee, there is bound to be pressure on his shoulders, but his willingness to take a substantial pay cut shows his desire to succeed in Germany, and he is sure to have a big say in the destination of the Bundesliga title.

13: Nuri Sahin (Real Madrid to Liverpool - loan)

Posted Image

Arsene Wenger may not have been too keen on him, and he may not have played much football in the past year, but the Anfield faithful can rightfully feel excited about the Turkish midfielder's arrival. Despite being the star man of the 2010-11 Bundesliga season, he struggled to get regular game time in the Spanish capital. But if the 23-year-old has put his injury woes behind him, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers may well have secured a vital piece in his jigsaw, at least for one season.

12: Antonio Cassano (AC Milan to Inter - €7m*)

Posted Image

With Cassano, there will be some controversial, madcap moments, but you are also guaranteed moments of genius on the pitch. Inter will be pleased with their summer dealings, and are confident that the Italian striker will slot in to Andrea Stramaccioni's system from the off. He will have no problems adjusting to life at, well, the same stadium, and considering the Nerazzurri sold on Giampaolo Pazzini and received a decent wedge to boot, it could prove to be one of the most astute pieces of business all summer.

11: Nigel De Jong (Man City to AC Milan - €5m)

Posted Image

It has not been the best of windows for the San Siro side, but they will have gone some way to appeasing their unhappy supporters with the capture of the controversial Dutch midfielder. Deemed not enough of a ball-player by Roberto Mancini, the 27-year-old still has plenty to offer, and will add some much-needed bite to the Rossoneri midfield in the absence of the departed Gennaro Gattuso.

10: Moussa Dembele (Fulham to Tottenham - €19m)

Posted Image

There was plenty of talk earlier in the summer that Real Madrid had enquired about the Belgian's services, and it is clear to see why. One way or another, he was always going to replace Luka Modric. The 25-year-old provides a rare, rampaging threat all over the pitch, and has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water. Arriving for just £15m (€19m), Spurs can feel pleased that the loss of their star Croatian will not be too keenly felt, despite missing out on Joao Moutinho.

9: Thiago Silva (AC Milan to PSG - €42m)

Posted Image

Quality centre-backs are hard to find these days, so it should come as no surprise that the man widely considered to be the best defender around was snapped up for big money. The Qatari-owned Paris Saint-Germain have put all their faith in the Brazilian to mind the shop while their new attacking talents run riot, so he will have to have a big season if they want to win Ligue 1. He should settle well in Paris alongside a couple of Serie A compatriots, but it should be remembered that the team are very much a work in progress.

8: Jordi Alba (Valencia to Barcelona - €14m)

Posted Image

Basically, he is the Dani Alves of the left-hand side. One of Spain's top performers as they won the European Championship and bred in the famous La Masia cantera, the 23-year-old is the perfect signing for Barca as they look to regain the Liga title. Of all this summer's transfers, he will probably adapt to his new club better than anybody. He may be the best left-back in the world already, and the €14m fee only seems expensive when you consider they let him go for free in the first place.

7: Shinji Kagawa (Dortmund to Man Utd €17.5)

Posted Image

Having made a name for himself as one of the most exciting players in the Bundesliga since arriving in 2010, the Japanese playmaker could prove to be a Premier League revelation for the Red Devils. If his first few United appearances are anything to go by, he has got the full package. Fleet of foot, fearless, creative and determined – and for just £14m (€17.5m) - Sir Alex Ferguson may well have shown that there is value in the market after all.

6: Marco Reus (Monchengladbach to Dortmund €17.5m)

Posted Image

Following the departure of Shinji Kagawa, the 23-year-old Germany international has got some big boots to fill. But he is not afraid of a challenge. After being accused of bottling a move to Bayern Munich, he promptly tore the Bavarians to pieces in a league encounter, and showed the same ruthless streak in scoring BVB's first goal of the season last Friday - on his league debut. The German champions have splashed out all of the Kagawa money, but it is looking like money well spent already.

5: Kwadwo Asamoah (Udinese to Juventus €10m)

Posted Image

It can be tricky for league champions to conduct their transfer business, what with having to cherry pick players that can come in and maintain the high standards that took the team to the top the season before. The Bianoconeri, however, have made a pretty good go at it with the signing of the Ghanaian. Patrolling the left-hand side, he scored a fine debut goal in the Supercoppa Italiana and was the star man on the first weekend of the Serie A season, and looks like he is right at home in the best side in the country.

4: Robin van Persie (Arsenal to Man Utd - €30m)

Posted Image

Not very often do you see the Player of the Year and Golden Boot winner move from one of the biggest clubs in the country to another, but that is exactly what the Dutchman has done. With eight years' Premier League experience, he will have absolutely no problems adjusting to life in Manchester. For United's part, the £24m (€30m) man will undoubtedly contribute a hatful of goals, and got off to a flying start with a wonder goal against Fulham.

3: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan to PSG - €20m)

Posted Image

Of all Paris Saint-Germain's big-money signings since they were bought out by Qatari investors in 2011, the Swede will prove to be their most important by far. Having rescued les Parisiens in their first league match, he was injured for their second game and out of sorts in their third - both matches ended goalless. When on form, he will be worth every cent of the €20m paid for him, and will relish being the go-to man for the up-and-coming side.

2: Santi Cazorla (Malaga to Arsenal - €20m)

Posted Image

The Spanish playmaker could prove to be one of the bargains of the summer; for years he was the main protagonist at Villarreal, and helped Malaga qualify for the Champions League last season. And he has looked at home in the Gunners XI so far, but has suffered while his fellow new arrivals have failed to find their feet quite so quickly. At £16 million (€20m), Arsene Wenger has picked up a real diamond.

1: Eden Hazard (Lille to Chelsea - €40m)

Posted Image

He spent weeks toying with Premier League chairmen back in June, and he has tormented English defences with the same ruthless streak in his first few outings. He may have riled the majority of fans with the continued delayed announcements over his future, but it is clear to see that the Blues have secured a real talent. Even for £32m (€40m), Roman Abramovich may have finally secured the marquee signing who can bring the title back to Stamford Bridge.

Can't believe Bayern didn't ship out Gomez for either Cavani or Falcao.

Winner.

Kagawa, Nige and Alba were the best bits of business imo.
