The BBC are set to count down the top 50 Premier League moments - GMF recalls some of the most memorable

The summer break is over, the pre-season struggles have been overcome and Euro 2012 is but a fading memory - that's right, the Premier League is back next week.

Just 90 days ago Sergio Aguero was busy writing his name into the record books, firing home a last-minute goal to win the Premier League title - Manchester City's first.

That moment was a fitting end to a superb season - arguably the best of the 20 so far. City won 6-1 at Old Trafford, United fired eight past Arsenal, while the Gunners scored five at Stamford Bridge.

Defending went out of fashion - Alan Hansen left bemused on weekly Match of the Day bulletins - as strikers scored freely, and 0-0 draws became an age-old relic of a less entertaining era.

But, while the 2011/12 season was vintage, it does not monopolise the most memorable of the Premier League. BBC 3 is set to air the top 50 Premier League moments next week, and these seven are almost certain to feature.

Liverpool 4 Newcastle United 3 - 1995/96

Voted the best match of the Premier League, this classic was the best of brilliant bunch of fixtures between the two sides. Stan Collymore eventually bagged the winner after 90 minutes of thrilling action, bringing the house down at Anfield. Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan couldn't believe it, and was left slumped in the away dugout, a picture of despair and disbelief.

Arsenal - entire 2003/04 season

Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires - The 'Invincibles' remain the only team to complete an entire Premier League season unbeaten. The achievement was eventually ended in their 50th match - a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. But, without doubt the greatest Premier League side so far.

Alan Shearer - 260th Premier League goal

The Newcastle and Blackburn striker is a Premier League legend, and the highest scorer in the competition's 20-year history. His tally, which ended on 260 goals, sits a mammoth 73 goals clear of his nearest rival, Andy Cole.

Sergio Aguero against QPR - 2011/12

The Argentinian's last-gasp goal wrenched the Premier League title from the grubby palms of Sir Alex Ferguson and planted it firmly in the lap of a grateful Roberto Mancini. A game packed with great goals, tense drama, and gripping narratives - not to mention the walk-off role played by frenzied QPR captain Joey Barton.

Bolton Wanderers 0-2 Chelsea - First Premier League title 2004/05

Chelsea won their first ever Premier League title with a comfortable victory at the Reebok Stadium. And their triumph was to be repeated the following season, securing Jose Mourinho's place in the club's history, but the first will always be the sweetest. Frank Lampard was to return to the Reebok - five years on - and do it all again as Carlo Ancelotti guided the Blues to the title.

Manchester United v Arsenal title race 1998/99

Manchester United treble-winning season remains the club's best ever, and it's title race with Arsenal was one of the most thrilling in 20 years. United had led from January to April, but late slip-ups saw Arsene Wenger's side steal in. But two wins from their last three games, plus some vintage Fergie mind-games, saw United come out on top, keeping a famous treble on course.

Manchester City 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur - 2009/10

Effecively a Champions League qualification decider, Manchester City - and Sheikh Mansour's millions - were heavy favourites to clinch that crucial fourth Premier League place. But Peter Crouch nodded Tottenham Hotspur in front with 10 minutes to go, sending Harry Redknapp's side into the Champions League for the first time in their history.

These are just a few of the most memorable moments from the Premier League - but everybody has their own favourite, so which is yours? Join the debate by leaving a comment below...

Aguero vs QPR. Nothing will ever come close to that moment. City fan, United fan, neutral, you will never forget that moment for as long as you live.

All of those other examples pale in comparison. Wiltord goal at OT. Tioté ... IT'S FOUR FOUR!

Winner.

Arsenal going unbeaten is hardly a single moment but that will be remembered by just as many as the Aguero goal.

Lmao, that was a nothing moment despite the enormity of that comeback.

This list will no doubt annoy me.

RVN penalty miss 2003 + aftermath should feature somewhere around number 40 IMO.

United 8-2 Arsenal, United 1-6 City, City 3-2 QPR should all feature from last season.

Keane on Haaland, Keane Vieira spat before United's 4-2 win at Highbury, Chelsea 5-0 United, Spurs 3-5 United, Spurs 4-5 Arsenal, Arsenal 4-4 Spurs, Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool, Chelsea 3-0 United, Bolton 0-2 Chelsea, United 4-3 City, United 3-2 Villa, Brum 2-2 Arsenal, Arsenal 2-2 United 2003, Everton 2-1 Arsenal 2003, Henry flick and volley against United, Bergkamp v Newcastle, Di Canio v Wimbledon, Scholes V Bradford, United 2-1 Spurs 1999, United 2-0 Arsenal 2004, Liverpool 0-1 United O'Shea.

Over half of them should feature IMO.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Some more came to my head, some of which before my time.

Cantona Kung-fu kick, Rio Ferdinand drug ban (and masterclass in first game back), Beckham v Wimbledon, Bruce V Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle 5-0 United (Shh Ant), Keegan rant, Kanu v Chelsea. As Elcule said, Wiltorrrrrrr will be on there.

Can't think of many relegation fights than warrant a place in the top 50. WBA 2005 is the most obvious one in my mind.

Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool at the end of 02/03 is one of the most poignant moments, though perhaps not as memorable to those not as sad as I am.
