Marko Marin believes Arsenal’s unbeaten Premier League run will end against his Chelsea side on Saturday - because they haven’t faced a team of the Blues' class.

Marin also believes his in-form Germany team-mate Lukas Podolski will find it far harder to continue his good form against Branislav Ivanovic.

And, despite their bright start, Marin reckons the jury is still out on whether Arsenal can cope without Robin van Persie.

European champions Chelsea travel to the Emirates this weekend on the back of a 6-0 demolition of what was admittedly a Wolves reserve side in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Disregarding the Gunners' battling point won at champions Manchester City last weekend, Marin said: “I am not sure that Arsenal have played against a good team like us.

“And it will be more hard for Lukas. Will he be a threat? I think we have a very good defence. Our right-back, Branislav, he will do very well. It will be very hard for Lukas to play against him.”

Arsenal have so far played out goalless draws at home to Sunderland and away to Stoke, won at Liverpool, thrashed Southampton 6-1 at the Emirates and come from a goal down to draw 1-1 with City.

Podolski is in good form after moving to London from Cologne in the summer.

He scored three goals in as many games against Liverpool, Southampton and Champions League foes Montpellier before being blanked by City.

But Marin added: “I am confident that we can keep Podolski quiet. I know Brana very well, and he is one of the best defenders in the league. I am not worried about this.

“Of course, it is a derby, and there are two German players that we will be playing against.

“I hope I’m in the team, but the important thing is that we win and keep our position in the Premier League.

“They have a good team. But they lost a good player in Van Persie, who last year was their top scorer and again [with new team Manchester United] he is at the top.

“It will be interesting to see how they do. For me it is more important that Chelsea are more successful than Arsenal.”

Marin, who played for the last 20 minutes against Wolves on Tuesday, added: “I think at the beginning it was a bit new for Lukas, but now he is doing very well.

“He has scored a few goals and he is playing well. No I have not spoken to him.

“We know each other from the national team, of course, but we are not really friends. I talk more with [Arsenal centre-back] Per Mertesacker - we played together at Bremen.”
