Poldi, RVP and Walcott will be scary with such a solid midfield.
If you're Wigan maybe.

Assuming Yann is signed, along with Poldi that reduces our net income by about 7M per year in terms of amortization. Add another 8M (assuming 70k pw avg for both players, seems reasonable) and that's 15M less after only signing 2 new players. We're going to have to recoup more than 30M in transfer fees and wages buy selling if we want to show a profit again.Everyone says 'oh just sell dead weight' but it's very hard to do that. At least one of our 'big' players has to go.Song leaving makes A LOT of sense both in terms of what happens on the pitch and financially.

What do you think about Yann M'Vila? United fans on Redcafe wanted both M'Vila (don't know why) and Hazard, looks like they'll miss out on both.

I see that more as a 433 to be honest, or even an unorthodox 442 with Wilshere and Podolski sharing the left side of the pitch.,

Really hope we sign Holtby tbh. I didn't want him at first but I'm warming to the idea. Very good close control, plays one tough, good left foot. Did very well against Bilbao at the San Mames but he's had an indifferent season. Adding another talented German to the ranks won't hurt with Mertesacker and Podolski already here. Holtby is half English though and speaks the language fluently.

Yeah, the only problem with an Arteta/Wilshere/M'Vila midfield is the lack of that one serious creative force. Holtby could be that man, which adds even more depth to the team, and makes it easier to sell Song.

I don't think we'd have an issue with creating at all with Wilshere and Arteta. They're clever players with good technique and very good passing ability, they'll exploit teams with clever triangles. There's no way in my mind that Arteta should not be appearing for us next season really, he's been our best midfielder by an absolute fucking mile in his first with us, he really is class. I'm confident Wenger would feel the same on this.

For Song to leave (Which i'm all for if M'Vila is coming) we need somebody to come in for him and put quite a big bid in, if we offer him around then we'll just get rinsed and that's not an option.

It's also worth considering that we must have made roughly £20million in transfer fee's last year as well. Considering the fact that we're almost certain to lose a lot of those players for the majority of the season, the starting XI's that have been posted aren't really good enough to get up there with United & City. We really should have been going all out for Kagawa although it's probably too late now, he looks like an awesome talent :(

Yeah he's quality but Wilshere is a lot better. Without signings I'd have both of them in our first choice midfield, but if we sign an AM then Arteta has to drop because Jack is better as a box to box player.

Wilshere's injury problems mean he'll likely be eased back anyway, Arteta will get many minutes.

the starting XI's that have been posted aren't really good enough to get up there with United & City.
And they won't be for awhile. We'd have to spend 100M-150M net if we wanted a first XI that could rival Man City's. However, keeping all the quality players we have now and adding 5 good signings to that should significantly reduce the 19 point gap from those two. Then the question would be, is Wenger's quality enough to reduce the gap even further, or would more need to be spent?

Next season I hope that we can challenge for the league (I don't want top 3 to ever be in doubt) and have a proper run in the CL.

It has to be said that M'Vila is purely Dag's discovery and he is an excellent scout at times. Wenger could have saved himself a lot of money if Merty was part of his scouting network.

Arsenal's side is beginning to shape up nicely, really well in fact. I'd start to worry if Holtby signed because he is a class act, so much better than the likes of Ramsey and Rosicky. They're starting to rinse my German talent pool, it's not a nice feeling to see the players you've enjoyed watching for so long playing in a rival shirt :(
