Yea scholes is a much different player than he was back then. He suits the International stage now more imo. It would be class to see him come back in now while Jack is out. I cant see him doing it though.

He should just stop being a prick and do it ffs. He already said he regretted turning down the chance in 2010 and i'm sure he'll regret it if he doesn't do it this year as well. What's the worst that could actually happen?

For me the level of Central Midfielder's he is up against is probably lesser on the whole, but there is no doubt that he is still playing at an extremely high level. Not sure he is at his peak though.

He's already come out of club retirement, might as well do it Internationally. Not sure he has the bottle.

In fact, can anyone recall any cases of other players coming back out of retirement at club level? I can't.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Great news. Fucking disgusting that his efforts since January have not resulted in a PL title.

Paul Scholes has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Manchester United for another year.

Scholes initially retired last summer but was persuaded to return to the club in January by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, as the 37-year-old went on to provide a stabilising influence in the United midfield as the club narrowly missed out on the Premier League title.

Ferguson confirmed earlier in the month that the experienced midfielder had agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension, and that deal has now been formally completed - while goalkeeper Ben Amos has also agreed a new three-year deal to remain at Old Trafford.

"I've spoken to him and he's staying," Ferguson said of Scholes two weeks ago. "I'm delighted. He knew he'd made a mistake [to retire].

"He now realises that if he plays 25 or 30 games next season, they'll be of real quality. We know our player very well. We've had him since he was a kid and we know how to use him."
