MOTM LMAOOOOOOOOOO why are you trying to re-write history. fucking hell dag stop being so biased.
HE WAS MOTM IN THAT MATCH YOU MUG WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!!!!!!!!!
In fairness Moe, he was.
- world class poster with a great understanding of the game
-
this is what infuriates me. i like wilshere a lot and he has put in some top quality performances but i have to regulate the hype
he was good against barcelona but people consider it a great performance in the same way we are shocked when a retard can count to 10. he is young, its his first full season at arsenal, he is against the best team in the world and he plays in a position that they excel in. he shattered our preconceptions by having a good game and in turn gave the media an orgasim.
koscielny had a much better game in the first leg, is it fair to say hes better than rooney because the latter would never give that kind of performace? the answer is no it wouldnt. besides rooney circa 2004 was destroying some of the best teams in the world running at frances defence for lols...youd never see wilshere do that...
i think if you rewatch the game arsenal didnt really have enough possesion to say wilshere ran the show. koscielny defended excellently and dealt with wave after wave of attacks without putting a foot wrong. he was my motm.

@ Rolling, I'll take that as no one. Thank you now fuck off.
Goonie it's such a vague question; what do you mean by "at the moment"? If you mean something along the lines of "in the last 5 games" or something then it's quite clear that Wayne Rooney is considerably better than Wilshere. Equally, Edwin Van der Sar has probably been one of the top 3 or so GKs in world football since the new year started. I really don't know what Wilshere has done to merit all this praise. OK, he's carried the ball around quite well, played good, sensible passes and not been overrun in midfield, but really that's it. When he starts dictating games, consistently making game-defining passes and scoring around 5 goals a season as Xavi and Iniesta and their near-equivalents have been doing this year then you can start calling him world class if you must. Recent form would be last month or two. also in the last 5 games Wilshere has been class for us, our best player in probably everyone of the games. Rooney would not be considered better at all let alone considerably better.
Since January he has been the best player in a team which (Last time I checked due to the stat of Kenny taking over) that has taken the most points in the league. Only van Persie comes close for me.
Tbh the reason I acted like such cunt in the way I replied was to match your first one to me.

Wilshere is going to be our player of the season most certainly, would be a disgrace if he wasn't. I don't want to debate whether he's better than Rooney as they have very different styles and play in different positions, but Jackie is definitely the silkier/classier of the two.

'He can be a great player for Arsenal and England. But we have many types of player like him in the second team. He's lucky, as Arsenal have time. There is not the pressure to win titles as quickly as possible. We have second-team players like him.' - A man with great understanding of football.

RVP has been your best player since January, by an absolute mile. NO. And I love RVP as much as anyone. Goals don't mean everything.

A man who probably doesn't watch full games that Wilshere is involved in too often.

Wilshere is one of the top 10 CMs in the world at this moment in time, yes he is world class. He's much better than Schweinsteiger who people constantly get their cocks out for.

Ability, performance levels, contribution.
I think a world class player scores pretty high in all these categories. Some, depending on position etc. have world class ability, perform fairly consistently and make a very good contribution to their side's cause. Others haven't got supreme ability but their performances are so consistent and they make such a huge contribution to their club's season that they have to be seen as a world class player.
You can throw them in any side really and expect them to produce a near world class season every time. Put them in a team that really complements their abilities, under a manager who knows how to use him and you will see the ability, performances and contribution at their best, like Xavi, Messi, Iniesta and Alves at Barcelona, or Sneijder or Lampard in Mourinho's teams..
