World class means you're one of the very best players in the world in your position. End of.

There are several CFs better than Ibra BTW.
i agree, where we differ is the timeline. for around a month this season berbatov was the best striker in the world, does that make him world class. nasri was good for a couple of months, is he world class now.

for me you have to be the best in your position for years and the majority of the players mentioned by you and others haven't been.

Football is not a static game, things are changing all the time. World class players emerge (Wilshere), world class players fall out of that bracket (Kaka), etc.

Buffon will forever be a world-class GK.

Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that. And when you win a championship - and we will - success isn't measured or accomplished by winning once.

Terry? Even a half-dead Nesta has more class than him.

World class is a fucking gay term and this is fast descending into a fucking gay thread. Everyone takes it to mean something slightly different and it just causes everyone to start acting like complete faggots. I'm out.

A fit Van Persie has been one of the best in the world in his position for years now though, so nobody can argue about him unless they're a complete cunt.

why wouldnt i think drogba was world class? he's been a top CF for a couple of years, dragging chelsea almost single handedly in 06/07 in the title race. he has scored great goals at important times for years and scored 29 goals in the league last season.

Never had 2 world class seasons in a row, he's only got 2 full stop for that matter.

@ Rolling, I'll take that as no one. Thank you now fuck off.
Goonie it's such a vague question; what do you mean by "at the moment"? If you mean something along the lines of "in the last 5 games" or something then it's quite clear that Wayne Rooney is considerably better than Wilshere. Equally, Edwin Van der Sar has probably been one of the top 3 or so GKs in world football since the new year started.

I really don't know what Wilshere has done to merit all this praise. OK, he's carried the ball around quite well, played good, sensible passes and not been overrun in midfield, but really that's it. When he starts dictating games, consistently making game-defining passes and scoring around 5 goals a season as Xavi and Iniesta and their near-equivalents have been doing this year then you can start calling him world class if you must.
