Arsenal are on the up, United are on the up, Chelsea aren't going to get worse than this season, City are also on the up. Liverpool might have a chance nicking 4th place, but I doubt that, considering they lack the financial power compared to Chelsea & ManCity. |

How so? x4 Our side right now, being managed correctly is averaging 2 points per game. We don't need an overhaul to take our spot back. So that's irrelevant. |

Liverpool are not going to replace United or Arsenal whatsoever. Chelsea & City are going to improve at a greater rate than Liverpool. Why? Money, chemistry of the team, young players incorporating better. With Liverpool, Gerrard is ageing, Reina is going to leave & Carragher is going to retire. It's a similar situation with Chelsea, but they have the financial prowess to easily replace these players (Carvalho -> Luiz, Ramires, Mikel). They'll simply out compete Liverpool in the market. I bet if you looked at Chelsea's average points over the same time period, they'd average around 2 points as well. |

do you have to change the subject in every thread you take part in i think Liverpool, Spurs, City, Arsenal, united Chelsea will all be closer than ever next year and all 6 of those clubs could finish in any order |

You can’t say that. I’m sure the attitude after we finished second was the same regarding Spurs. The previous two seasons to us dropping out of the top four saw us pick up 76 and 86 points. In comparison, the last two seasons have seen Arsenal win: 72 and 75 Chelsea win: 83 and 86 Utd win: 90 and 85 So Liverpool’s performance for the two seasons prior to dropping out of the top four, were far better seasons than the Arsenal side now have managed in the last two years. If Arsenal keeps up their form this season then they will finish on 76 points. Hardly a powerhouse that will be impossible to replace, as Liverpool have shown, a better side already fucked it up. And with question marks over Fabregas’ future and RVP never being able to put a run of games together, I can’t see how you can say they’re on the up and can’t be replaced. Chelsea look very strong there, two 80+ point finishes. You would have assumed they would have no trouble claiming a Champions League spot this year, yet if Spurs and City had of pulled their fingers out then the gap could already have been too much to catch up on. What’s stopping Liverpool capitalising on that kind of thing? We’re picking up lots of points at the moment without our main striker. And we have the summer window to add a few players. You’ll probably say we won’t be able to attract good enough players...I’ll raise you Suarez. I agree Utd are as safe as can be. But they do have problems in their squad. How will the new keeper do? Will he make you drop vital points in crunch games, buckling under the pressure? Will your form away from home impact your mentality and make it extremely difficult to pick up wins on the road next season aswell? Will Rooney ask to leave again? You can’t rule anything out. Now for Chelsea and City improving quicker, you haven’t really thought that out. Here’s something to ponder on the money and team chemistry points: Fernando Torres - £50m Eden Dzeko - £30m Luis Suarez - £23m Two of those have been absolute shit, and one a revelation. Money doesn’t guarantee a good player. And it most certainly doesn’t guarantee team chemistry. Did you know that since Dzeko signed for City, they have picked up fewer points than the mighty West Ham and Fulham? I can only hope they out buy us like that all summer. And besides, City isn’t even a top four side to lose that place yet anyways. I don’t understand your point about young players either. We have two of the leagues stand out younger players this season in Martin Kelly (19) and Andy Carroll (22). We also have Danny Wilson (19), Jay Spearing (22) and Jonjo Shelvey (19) impressing this season. There are also international talents such as Insua (22) and Pacheco (20) out on loan. And key players like Lucas (24) and Suarez (24) aren’t very old at all. Added to this, NESV have talked a lot about buying younger players for the first team as opposed to the Joe Cole type signings, and have brought in Damien Comolli who has a very good record with Spurs of buying young players. I also don’t know why you have the impression that we aren’t strong financially. We’re very strong – no debt, and the highest commercial revenues in England. This makes us strong; especially when you consider that this summer is the start of the FFP rules. Chelsea announced a £70m loss in January too btw, not taking into account the Torres and Luiz deals. We’ll have at the very least a £30m + sales budget. We could quite conceivably spend £50m this summer. Easily enough to compete for the top four places, and I’d be very surprised if we didn’t. |

You can write as many paragraphs as you like but there are currently at least 4 PL teams better than Liverpool and there's nothing to suggest Liverpool are likely to get better than any of them any time soon. It is of course possible but you'd have to fancy other teams over Liverpool next season too. |

So yeah it's possible, top four isn't sealed like I said. And you can't comment on next season without seeing the transfer activity this summer. |

Luis Suarez has not been a revelation. All he's done is remind us all what a wonderful player Andrei Arshavin was back in 2009. |
