You can tell DaG absolutely hated Alfie's post and the 'great posts' that went with it. Totally understand the lad's frustrations.
You should probably explain that.

Some fantastic goals on the break aren't a replacement for playing a style of football that wins you matches convincingly. Im not going to sit here and pretend i know the ins and outs of the tactical differences between the curent Arsenal playing style and the way we played previously, but teams sit deep against us as a means of countering our playing style, and teams doing this are more successful against us as a consequence. This tells me our current playing style is easier to defend against then before, so maybe having 200% possession every game isnt a good thing. Relinquishing more possession in matches by being more daring may encourage teams to come at us a bit more then they would if they never have the ball. Them coming at us more leaves more room to be exploited and therefore a player like anelka would flourish for us and we may be a bit more of a solid title challenging team again. Theres a reason our current crop of forwards differ so much from the types of forwards we had before. Wengers eye pleasing methods of football could perhaps benefit from less intricacies.
I'm not a fan of Arsenal divving around with the ball on the edge of the box and no-one taking enough responsibility to shoot but I'm convinced that possession football is the right way to play the game. Arsenal's problem is their mentality, not their style of play.

Winner.

When we have Cesc in the team and properly fit we still catch teams with the ball over the top relatively often, he's the only one who can spot those balls and complete them on a regular basis though. Back in the day Petit, Edu, Vieira and Bergkamp could all pull them off well. Of course we also had the benefit of players with pace who could time their runs in behind perfectly like Henry and Ljungberg, now we only really have Walcott who will do that.

So no Cesc and no Walcott equals what we've seen in recent weeks, but when they come back hopefully after the international break we'll look a far more dangerous beast again.
