Whichever team wins the league this year will be the poorest quality of champions that I've seen in 17 years of watching football.

 True. You could say the other clubs in the PL have improved, the bottom three are all capable of beating the top 3, but when you look at United's team on paper you do wonder.

I'm happy to say that this is a very low quality Utd side. However if we sign a new goalkeeper, holding midfielder, playmaker and winger in the summer then we'll be of a pretty good standard. That is presuming that these new players are of similar quality to Vidic, Evra, Nani etc . . .

Ideally I'd want more and preferably:

Neuer
Gotze
Vidal/Rodwell
Hamsik
Bale(ambitious in the extreme).

Vidal is the only player you're likely to sign there if you tried hard. Great signing though if you pulled it off.

I dunno. Rodwell is a distinct possibility. Gotze maaaaaaybe. If not Neuer then Adler or De Gea. Not sure about the rest.

United could sign any of those players if they really wanted, no question about IMO. (Gotze maybe not though as he's only just broken in and I doubt he'd want to move at this point)

Neuer is off to Bayern, end of. Goetze would be interested in the move to United but not just yet, a year or twos time. Vidal will be accessible at the right price. Hamsik won't leave, neither will Bale.

Hamsik won't leave because no top clubs are interested as he's a massively overrated player. If United wanted him they'd get him.

Schalke going through against Inter one would expect, does this make for an easier semi final should United get there...?
