Money is always an incentive mate, no matter who you are or what your wages already are, no all-conquering manager has ever gone from dominance to mediocrity and no manager ever will (Unless he's forced too of course), it's like a bank manager leaving to work as a postman, just doesn't happen. Money isn't even the main reason for going anyway tbh, the Chelsea job is arguably the most challenging in the world right now because they not only want instant success they want to turn the clubs reputation and style on it's head, he'll be given a real chance to do that as well because he'll most likely be given a lot of funds to do it. I'd be so attracted to that job if i was him and i'm convinced he'll take it.
Maybe not in relation to football but even in the field of football I think that's bollocks. Certainly in my experience of the world (not a footballing example but I'm sure they could be found) money is not always an incentive. My boss at the building firm I work for was making an absolute killing as a marketing executive, he owned one Porsche after another and currently owns two Aston Martins, one a DB4 in racing spec worth around Ł150,000. He jacked it in though, first to open a garden centre and when he got bored with that moved on to building. Because of the recession he's running at a net loss of around Ł300,000 since he set up the company, but he tells me that the pleasure he gets from never waking up and thinking 'I don't want to go to work today' is priceless.

That's just one example but one of the plasterers we use used to be an advertising executive making a killing and now does plastering, he finds it therapeutic and enjoys it.
One of my bosses business partners used to have a job at a bank but now drives lorries just for the fun of it.

Money is not the be all and end all, obviously all of these people are comfortably off but there comes a point when you stop wanting more and more and think about other things you want in life.

So I think you're plain wrong.

That being said I'm trying to think of specific footballing examples. Two I can think of are Steven Gerrard turning down the opportunity of a lot more money and potentially more trophies by sticking with Liverpool rather than going to Chelsea, and Matt le Tissier staying at Southampton for his whole career in a similar fashion.
Because this bloke dropped his wage sum it doesn't mean money isn't something that entered his head when he decided to make this decision. It may not be the first thing that pops into your head but it's a factor and if somebody's on the phone offering you bigger and bigger sums to work somewhere every time he speaks to you it's going to be either difficult or borderline impossible to say no, regardless of who you are and what you desire.

The first example you've given is absolutely pointless to the subject and you've basically gone into an off-topic ramble, if Pep goes to some shit club in Italy he's going to be doing the exact same thing, he's going to be worrying about the exact same thing (Team selections, formations blah blah blah), he's just going to be earning less and accomplishing less when doing it. I assume this gardening bloke would have been doing that for many years, got everything he wanted out of it and was just exhausted, Pep is still at the start of his managerial career and like every manager at his level would settle for nothing more then being viewed as the best manager in the world and would want to win everything he can. In fairness i did lead you astray with the postman/bank manager example, but despite the bad example the point i was making was ridiculously obvious.

Money is indeed not the be all to end all, good thing i never said that or even implied it

I don't know what you two are on about now and i also don't know why Artrun is being such a spiteful little bitch about this considering it's hardly a touchy subject. In future before you start being disrespectful you should try and consider the fact that we come from 2 different worlds and have totally different view-points. The subject is decision making and frankly i know a lot more about that then you do (or any other 21 year old i know) as i actually rely on myself to make a living and don't have a safety net, all you can do is repeat stories from other people. You can give me one example of somebody choosing a more relaxed life over a bigger pay-cheque and i can give you a million examples of somebody choosing the money. It's simple stuff but feel free to put down another bitchy remark if it makes you feel better, but i know you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Lmao sorry mate this is my fault for not quoting, I was talking to Artrun - who has a job working for one of his mum's friends at a building company. He goes to Uni and as soon as he comes back for the holidays seems to get straight back on the rota - plus can take holiday whenever he likes. To be fair to him he does work hard when he's there (or so he says) and is loyal to that company and doesn't really fuck them around too many times taking a sicky or anything.

My joke was just that if his employer can afford to give his employees that much slack then no wonder he is making a Ł300,000 net loss, that's what Artrun was having a go at, not you mate!

Using 334 these days, interested to see if they use it in El Clasico. I wasn't a big fan of it vs Milan as I felt they didn't have enough possession as they should have, but it makes them so direct and gives so many options in the final third of the pitch.

WTF only just seen this, so misrepresented in this thread. Sorry Kol I have not once been or intentionally been rude to you on this thread, I was rude to Cule because I can get away with it. To you all I said was a couple of examples of people taking a cushier life ahead of money.

I obviously agree with you that the majority of the time people will go for more money, but the point I'm making is that it isn't the be all and end all. Now I appreciate you thought I was being rude to you when you wrote what you did so you were angry, but nonetheless you misunderstand me as more naiive than I actually am, and Cule definitely puts a certain spin on things.

Finally beginning to crack. Very defiant in his press conference, over protective of his players, and he's sworn at a journo. Definitely feeling the pressure. Might see some petulance from him tomorrow if Chelsea frustrate Barca.
