Santiago Bernabeu is my favourite because I have experienced the magic of a Madrid match taking place there and got a sense of the grandeur of the club and all it's achieved simply by being there and strolling around outside with all the Madridistas.

Moreover, for me it is the stadium that most represents the magnitude of modern football. It's the theatre on which world class players from all over the globe want to ply their trade and it's the arena that every club wishes they could host.

It also makes images of Old Trafford seem pretty parochial, which is some feat.

The ground is unique in British football in that there is a pub in each corner of Griffin Park, Royal Oak, New Inn, The Griffin - which was used in the film Green Street - and The Princess Royal :)

So disappointed I didn't get a chance to head up the autobahn to see this monster when I went to Cologne, absolutely epic.

Anyone who hasn't experienced the atmosphere here has missed out, in the Leazes End (which is the highest stand on the left of the picture) its the loudest place I've ever been to.

This is like with rolling, you don't go there for the atmosphere, you go just to savour the pure class and enormity of the planet's greatest club, you and everyone else goes there knowing you're about the witness the best team on the planet, the best player on the planet and you go there armed with such huge expectation as the monolithic stadium looms above you. It takes about 15 minutes to walk round the thing, an army of Vespa's rolls past like angry bees. You get the little awstruck kids talking in Catalan or Castellano about Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Villa while their Dad's and Grandads are passing down legends about Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Romario, Maradona, Cruyff, Kubala and the best thing is the game is at like eight or nine in the evening so the night has rolled in to create the backdrop for the footballing theatre you're about to witness. :)

Can only afford that because of their tax evasion.

I've just booked a golfing weekend in Portugal with my mates for Feb 21st, we're going to go watch a Benfica game :) Can't wait to visit another magnificent stadium. Braga are at home too, would be a dream to visit their home ground but it's a long way from where we're staying.

About time Barca did something with Camp Nou, it is a bit of a mess atm.
