Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric has rebuffed speculation that he could leave White Hart Lane for Spanish champions Barcelona. The Croatia international has been linked with a move to Camp Nou with the Catalan giants reportedly willing to pay upwards of £30million to secure his signature. Modric is happy at Spurs and committed his future to the club as recently as May by putting pen-to-paper on a new six-year contract. The 25-year-old is flattered to be linked with a move to Pep Guardiola's charges, although he is happy and settled in England's capital and enjoying being a Tottenham player. Modric insists the only way you will get him flying to Barcelona is if Harry Redknapp's side draw the Primera Liga giants in the knock-out phase of the UEFA Champions League. Rumours "Me going to Barcelona? Yes, I really hope that, but only as a Tottenham player in the next round of the Champions League," he joked in an interview with SportskeNovosti. "Let's be serious. All this is just so-called exclusive rumours, but I don't know who really needs them. Are they funny? Yes, they are very funny for me. "But of course, it is always nice to see your name being linked with such a club as Barcelona, but one has to keep their feet on the ground. "At the end of the day it's just rumours without any foundation. And I really don't want to talk about all this anymore. Since I moved here newspapers are always talking about me leaving for somewhere else. "First it was Chelsea, then Inter Milan and also Manchester United, now it is Barcelona. But the only truth is that I just recently signed a new contract with Tottenham. "London is such a great place and at White Hart Lane I feel just like home. I know that the fans are happy with me, I have all the support I need to develop even more. "I can make my football dreams come true with Tottenham and that is why all my thoughts and also my future is with this club." I think he would do well for Barca. He wouldn't start but then most say Fabregas wouldn't. Modric would cost a hell of lot less too. |

I think he would play quite a bit there. Iniesta isn't always played as CM and I think Modric and Xavi would do well just infront of Busquets. Only problem is where does Masch fit into it all lol. |

They don't need Modric at all, what they need is another attacker, a CF. |

Probably. Milito is a very good 3rd choice but he's never fit which is a problem. Abidal can cover there, so too Busquets, but its not ideal at all. They've got another top talent in the B team at the moment though, Muniesa. People are raving about him, should see him later this season I'd imagine. |

Barca don't need him, and Modric doesn't need to go there. |

This is what you get with DaGunners: a considered opinion followed by the presentation of new, useful information about an emerging talent. Quality poster. |

Mancini admits Modric interest Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has publicly praised Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric. Having irritated Arsenal by expressing an interest in captain Robin van Persie in March, Mancini has now risked doing the same to North London's other Premier League club by praising their star midfielder. Modric, who last summer demanded a transfer to Chelsea before ultimately staying at White Hart Lane, has caught Mancini's eye with his fine performances this season. However, the City boss admits convincing Tottenham to sell the Croatia international could prove a difficult task. "Luka Modric is an outstanding footballer, a great player," Mancini is quoted in The Sun. "He is definitely one of the best in the Premier League. "But it is by no means easy to get him because he plays for a big club, Tottenham. It is unlikely that they would let him leave." |

Wow you should be happy with that Ant as it appears Mancini will really try and force the issue now you better hope Tottenham fail or else it would be so much more difficult to get his signature.

Spot on, I'm delighted Mancini is showing intent and I hope he goes through with it. I have a feeling he'll leave anyway if Redknapp leaves, even if they do get top 4. |
