Tbh its disgusting that its been able to go this far. Surely the people who worked for Pompy doing the finances knew they couldn't afford to bring in the players they were and paying the wages they were.

Feel sorry for their fans :(

Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that. And when you win a championship - and we will - success isn't measured or accomplished by winning once.

i blame redknapp
Why?

He can't take any of the blame. He is told what he can spend and you can't blame a manager for spending it. Its those who said yes to him that are to blame.

he obviously forced their hand. when he signed he was given assurances of the ambition of the club, which would have given him encouragement to buy players to acheive this ambition. theres no doubt he got a bit carried away and pushed the board into making more funds available promising to finish higher up etc.

he left and then took most of those players with him, leaving portsmouth over streched.

I totally agree he will have done so but they shouldn't have gave in. They know the clubs financial standings better than anyone and they should have explain it to Redknapp and if they did and he still was demanding money they should have said either live what with you have or go becuase we can't afford to spend all this. They are in control of the club and have the final say.

Quite a few of the players he bought made a profit for them.

Apparently there is a one off fee which is stopping Portsmouth from getting new owners atm :deepthought: So it might not happen.

What the hell would you do if th club you support just dissapeared from football? Scary thought.

whilst i feel sorry for the fans of portsmouth, various owners have allowed the spending to go ahead and have paid no mind to the overall cost of the club.

as harsh as it is, i think the loss of such a big club will hopefully serve as a reminder to the other clubs that they need to watch their finances, and hopefully the footballing authorities can look into clamping down on the procedures used to evaluate the bids and potential owners for football clubs.

sad day if it happens, but i think it had to happen sooner or later
