The way I see it, two of the PL's best strikers are now available for Chelsea to snap up: Fernando Torres and Wayne Rooney. Which of those two do you think they should go for? Or would they do better to look abroad?

I'm not being funny, but I genuinely believe that Torres' career as a top class performer is as good as over. He may have a couple of months here and there where he looks like setting the world alight again over the next few seasons, but the recurrent injuries are just so overwhelmingly redolent of Michael Owen's situation that I think he'd be a massive risk. Rooney is surely the safer option, even if his ceiling is clearly less lofty.

Rooney would be the better choice. Torres just can't be relied on to stay fit.

Wait until we get a new manager before writing Torres off. They would be better off buying Rooney though.

Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that. And when you win a championship - and we will - success isn't measured or accomplished by winning once.

I think Torres would be the slightly cheaper option for them but he is a crock ffs.Wouldnt want to be having to rely on him. While they have drogba and Anelka though he is the better option for them

Torres would certainly be more expensive than Rooney, mainly because of their respective contract stages.

Torres. Still a world class player once he gets going again. You just don't lose the kind of talent he has.

I don't think he'll ever get back to his best but we'll still see a top player.

What is it with people on this forum talking about Liverpool -> Chelsea, United -> Chelsea, United - City etc. transfers as if rivalry doesn't mean a thing any more......top players will go abroad, this isn't SoccerManager.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart
