Just a thread for news that doesn't warrant its own thread. Arsenal are reportedly looking to secure the services of England youth starlet Diego Poyet the son of former Chelsea legend and current Brighton manager Gustavo. According to The People, the Gunners are hot on the trail of the highly-rated Charlton teenage midfielder, who is in the England under-16 squad despite his dad being a proud Uruguayan. Diego was born in Spain but raised in England while Gus, who is impressing at Brighton and saw his side ironically beat Charlton 4-0 on Saturday, played for Tottenham and the Blues after a spell with Real Zaragoza. Poyet junior has been with Charlton but they could lose him to the Gunners, who are keen to recruit domestic-based players. Arsenal hope their reputation for bringing through youngsters will be more important in the battle for Poyet rather than any old club allegiances. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Anyone seen him play? |

Arsene Wenger is ready to offer ex-Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira a job on his coaching staff if the former Gunners great retires at the end of the season. The Manchester City midfield man has admitted he may hang up his boots next summer and Arsenal boss Wenger will look to make a second attempt to recruit the Frenchman as a coach, reports The People. He tried to re-sign the 34-year-old as a player-coach in the summer of 2009 but the midfielder eventually opted for Eastlands, believing he would enjoy more playing time in a bid to make the 2010 World Cup. In the event Vieira failed to make the French squad and has only played a bit-part role in Citys Premier League campaign so far this season, starting only one game. This led to an admission last week that his successful playing career could be reaching an end. Wenger has kept in close contact with his former midfield general since he left Arsenal for Juventus five years ago. Vieira spent one season with Juve before switching to Inter. The Arsenal boss is impressed by Vieiras knowledge of the game and he values his countryman's opinions on football He has even privately admitted that his former skipper could one day succeed him in the Emirates Stadium ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Would be amazing to have him around the place. |

Our players are constantly praising him, saying how good he is at coaching the young players and how good he is at coaching. |

I think every midfielder to ever play the game could only dream of being as good and as much of a leader as Vieira was. |

You are immediately wrong here. Roy Keane is the best CDM to ever grace England... |

Keane was nowhere near as good a DM as he was CM. Vieira was better at both than Keane although Keane was pretty fucking good throughout his time at United. |
