OFFICIAL: Ex-Juventus Star David Trezeguet Joins Hercules On Two-Year Deal

The 32-year-old French forward ended a ten year stay with Juve late last week, terminating his deal by mutual consent to facilitate his switch to the Alicante based club and becomes los Herculanos ninth addition of the summer as they prepare to preserve their fledgling status in Spain's top flight.

"I am very happy to be in Alicante," he was quoted as saying by Marca.

"After spending ten years in the Italian championship, having played in a team as important as Juventus, having won many titles and been top scorer, it was time to move abroad.

"I wanted to know the Spanish league, for me it is an important step in my career. [Hercules] are a team with ambition and want to do positive things. I've read about it's history, the team, and the fans. For myself, it's important to be as motivated now as I was whewn I first signed in Italy and have the desire and expectations to perform well along with my team-mates."

"Alicante is a beautiful city, but my main goal is to play, show my qualities and give my experience to a team that is eager to grow."

The 32-year-old is aware that the situation at the promoted La Liga side will be very different from what he is used to at Juventus, but insists that will cause no problems.

"I come here strongly motivated, I am still a major player and Hercules has given me this opportunity," he continued.

"We'll see if I play or not against Barcelona, but I should be ready against Valencia, a match Hercules has been waiting to play for a long time."

The former Monaco star scored 171 goals in 318 games in the black and white of Juventus and it is understood that the catalyst to the deal has been the fact that his wife is originally from Alicante, and this has influenced Trezeguet’s decision to agree to move to Hercules, rejecting the overtures of Lazio and Real Zaragoza.

Winner.

"If I go to Anfield and someone puts the ball into the box and Carragher hammers it out of play the fans applaud. At Camp Nou you would never be applauded for that." - Xavi

They're in for Camoranesi too.

Edit: Never mind, he's signed for Stuttgart.
