As much as I felt i shouldn't like him, I couldn't help but do so. I think he would be considered a legend at United, just one reason for this would be coming off the bench to win the CL for them, and the fact that he was able to consistently come off the bench to score so many late goals that helped United over the years.

I think it was best for him to stay at United, as they were the most successful club in the country at the time, and the fact that he was beloved by everyone at the club, and still had an impact a lot of the time coming off of the bench, which contributed to a lot of United's success.

is he a united legend  of course he is

he was a very very good finisher and if were him i probably wouldnt have waited so long on the bench. he did begin to feature more from 2000 till around '04/05, but his nack for important goals is unparalleled.

3rd/4th choice striker at United for a reason, he wasn't good enough to get into the first XI because he was never as good as the likes of Cole/Yorke/RVN for example. Known for his knack of getting late goals but when you look at it rationally it could have been any striker getting on the end of the chances, United were famed for getting late goals and the chances are that in the late stages of the game Solskjaer would be the man on the pitch with enough energy to make the moves. One of the PL's most overrated players.

Yep, he contributed heavily to our success and was such a great super sub.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Solskjaer was a nice lad, he'd never throw a fit if things didn't go his way or anything like that so he was easy to leave on the bench in that respect. He had a solid first season and was also good in the season afterwards which was tough after Cantona's exit and after that we had Yorke and Cole. Fergie was never gonna leave a record signing on the bench and Cole had already proved himself as one of the most potent strikers in the PL and when they hit it off like they did, Solskjaer was always going to find it hard to really nail down a place.

Cole and Yorke and that fantastic partnership started falling apart soon after and Yorke in particular was failing to impress at just about every aspect of being a footballer and professional at a club like Utd where Fergie takes no shit. Solskjaer was still doing well banging in a nice few goals, four against Everton I remember but Fergie persisted with Yorke/Cole longer than he should have.

van Nistelrooy came in after that and we all know how exceptional he was so no shame for anyone to be left out of the team for him.

What I'm trying to say here is that the circumstances very much had a part to play in why Ole was left on the bench for a lot of the time. I think it's harsh to say he was on the bench for a reason, or that he was just a good sub because he was more than that. There's also a reason why he was never sold and Yorke and Cole were.

Solskjaer had the ability to be a main striker at Utd, we would have been no worse off had Fergie ditched Yorke after his second season and replaced him with Solskjaer. I think he was one of the best finishers I've seen at Utd and had he been played from the start more often, his record would very much show that instead of how it looks now which in no way a reflection of his class, a lot of his appearances were 10 minutes here, 5 mins there.

Very good striker, absolutely clinical.
