Im unsure of the point your trying to make Paddy and DaG. So Ferguson tried to buy him but couldnt, but Benitez managed to land him...im unsure of what significance this has with regards to how poorly Benitez overal transfers have been

MAch was a great signing i agree, as was Alonso and Pep. But Benitez failed to ever create a team capable of ever challenging for the Pl, and he had ample time to do so with a whole load of cash in his pockets to buy and buy right. He failed, and its down to his poor transfer nouse imo

Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that. And when you win a championship - and we will - success isn't measured or accomplished by winning once.

Ok well to summarise, if you think what Benitez produced at Liverpool ( a CL win and one season where they CHALLENGED for the PL) a success as a manager for a top 4 club then fair enough, but for me a manager in charge of one of the biggest teams in Europe needs to have more to show for himself, and thats why i'll consider his time at Liverpool a failure and regard him as a manager who wasnt good enough to steer a top team to success.

He won more than a CL for a start. He changed the whole clubs infrastructure, which we are now starting to benefit from. He increased our profile worldwide. Made the squad much better. And turned us into a force on the European front. To call him a failure is laughable.

I guarantee you Roy Hodgson will win neither the CL or the Premier League at Liverpool.
