I don't think he's questioning whether he deserves the money (if he is then he's being silly); I think he's just reflecting that there's so many good, genuine and honest people in the world who have to scrape a living when complete wankers are earning millions. It is sad when you think about it.

Winner.

No it's not, it's brilliant to think that regardless of what moral code you have you can enjoy everything this life offers you.

Lol that's one way of looking at it; but obviously I'd like to see people with similar morals to me being rewarded, so in that sense it is sad.

It's not about being heartless George, it's about being not getting on some ridiculous moral high horse and recognising that people can get happiness from a variety of things.

Well of course, but if it's at the expense of others then I'm not a fan.

John Terry has brought happiness to many people though, from helping his team to win trophies. You can moan all you want about how much money top footballers earn while acting like bellends in their private life, but they're paid for the entertainment and joy they bring to us, and if they weren't around and professional football didn't exist then all our lives would be a lot emptier.

They play for themselves, absolutely no doubt whatsoever about that so I'm not sure that's a relevant point... the pleasure they give the fans is an indirect thing, not the main motivator for people to be professional footballers.

I didn't say that was their main motivator, but playing in front of thousands of people chanting your name is certainly a massive motivation. But that's beside the point. They earn the money they do because fans are prepared to pay out a load to go and see them. If their performances are good enough to warrant fans shelling out the money they do to watch games, then they have earned their wage. The joy that top footballers bring to loads of people's lives outweighs the damage that some of them do to a few people's lives through their actions off the pitch.
