Fucking gorgeous team DaG, respect for actually doing it with a philosophy too, I might try that later...

Winner.

I didn't include van Basten because his top years came in the late 80s and of course I didn't see as much of him as I did the strikers I did include. Most people who are old enough to have seen him week in week out have van Basten as #2 behind R9.

What's amazing about lists like these is that you'll rarely see people including someone like Seedorf. Such a world class player.

I get the impression that he's like another Raul; a longevity merchant but never hit the heights of Zidane/Kaka/Xavi etc

Calling a player like Raul or Seedorf a longevity merchant is disrespectful. Both amazing players in their own right. Seedorf has pretty much everything you could dream of from a CM. He's mobile, can dribble, always available, vision, intelligence, power.

Yeah but that doesn't take away from the fact that neither of them respectively reached the heights of R9/Henry and Zidane/Vieira...Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of both of them, but they are not top bracket players in threads like these.

Seedorf never reached the peak Vieira did but he did much better on the European stage.

I've not seen anybody include Roy Keane yet which surprises me, especially as two separate United fans have included Lampard and Paul Ince ahead of him :hysterics:

What's so funny about Paul Ince?

What is funny is that he probably scrapes into the top 50 midfielders, let alone being one of the greatest of this generation. As a United fan, Keane has to come above Ince, as does Veron.

YESS GET IN, someone mentions Paul Scholes!
Scholes

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart
