What a season boys, obviously it was going to be hard to replicate what we did last year with the treble, but this season we went one better and won four trophies Every single player at this club has made me so proud this season, I was thinking about making a comment about Chgyrinsky there but thought it not only harsh, but wrong. There's no set of players I'd rather have in my team at this current moment, I love each of them to bits and just hope we can all grow old together in Barcelona It's been a weird year for me, the first memorable moment was Pedro's wondergoal versus Shaktar; I'd just got in from work, at home living with my parents, all my old friends around me and had recorded the match so I sat in my Dad's living room and watched the recorded version, sometimes I wish I was back then. Now I'm in Newcastle, at uni, living alone, different friends, different life but the one constant has been FC Barcelona, always sticking to the same style, always winning, always keeping me smiling. They've brought tears to my eyes on occasions this season, Keita's hatrick against Atletí (man that seems a long time ago), Messi's wonder performance against Arsenal and being able to witness the brilliant second half against Sevilla have all been amazingly emotional moments. Piqué's goal against Inter, Ibra's second at the Emirates and his winner in El Clasico were amazing scenes as well. Tonight though it all meant something; we lost one game all season, dropped just two points at home and had 96pts but it would have meant nothing if Real had won and we hadn;t tonight. At 2-0 I was still nervous and as Real pulled it back to 1-1 the pressure was building slightly. And then Touré, Yaya fucking Touré nutmugs one bloke, outsprints another and pulls a delicious ball back to silence his critics in what may well be his very last game for the club. If it is thank you so much Yaya, I will never stop supporting you wherever you go; I feel priveliged to have grown up with him in my team no matter how wayward your passing is at times. I don't mind telling you I let it all out then, the title was ours and it was my favourite player sewing it up. This season though was all about two people, with Iniesta injured, Henry dying, Pedro still developing and Ibra blowing hot and cold it was left to probably the two greatest players on the planet, Lionel Messi and Xavier Hernandez to guide us to the title. Obviously you've all heard them wanked over enough for me to tell you how good these players are, how special they are and what ambassadors they are for Barcelona and the game of football in general. Without them I can;t even comprehend how poorly we'd have done. Thanks so much boys. And now to Pep Guardiola, he looked like he didn't know what to do at the final whistle, tears in his eyes, going around hugging people but looking so awkward and lost. He felt like I felt. It's hard having everyone and no-one to celebrate a trophy with, for all the congratulations and slaps on the back, we just wanted to be alone, have time to take things in because the people around us just didn't feel the same as us - in his case they were celebrating with their team mates, not their boss, in mine the geordie locals just weren't that bothered. As so yeah, I'd like to say some thank yous, mainly to Wrighty and Goonie, I know Barca aren't your first teams but it really makes me feel warm when I see you cheering on the boys whoever we go up against (except Arsenal - sorry about that), thanks for all your support and it'll be cool to have you on board again next season. Also just thank you to the forum in general, it's been wonderful here this season and kept me going at times, a special thanks to Ant who's always been there if I need a chat to keep my mind off things. Thanks to Matty too who will no doubt tell me to get a blog after he's read this Gracias muchas amigos, hasta 2010/11!!! Edited by elcule, May 16 2010, 11:07 PM.

![]() Winner. "If I go to Anfield and someone puts the ball into the box and Carragher hammers it out of play the fans applaud. At Camp Nou you would never be applauded for that." - Xavi

Cheers for the shout, Cule On a serious note, I'm very happy for You, Pep, and the brilliant players at Barcelona. Even though I'm still bitter about the 09 CL final, it still brings a smile to my face that Barcelona took the title from a team that spent a quarter billion over the past summer. This season, I was hoping for a Barca repeat, and Madrid failure.... Again, I'm very happy for Cule, Pep, Messi, Xavi, Pedro, Pique, and the rest of the Barcelona players/coaches/staff/and board. This season is yours, and no one can take that away from you. Enjoy! |
Mr. LVG, this is Ed. Ed's the winner for our Key103 'Meet Van Gaal' competition.

Well done mate, you've been a top class poster lately. I have always liked Barcelona, I even got a shirt when I went in 2008. I'll admit I like them much less now but I'll never forget how much I loved them under Rijkaard with Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Deco ripping teams apart. Nice one m8, but Matty's original blog comment was legendary. |
