I hope no-one mentions 2006, fuck no was he the world's best player in '06.
It's more about him being the talisman behind the Italian WC triumph. Nesta fucked off injured after game 2.
PURE FUCKING RECYCLAGE FROM THE LAD.

Ant says (15:54):
*Cannavaro only got the recognition as he was the defensive talisman in that incredible Italian defensive unit.

Zeezoo has it right though, Cannavaro was not the best player in 2006, and he has never been a better defender than Allessandro.

How on earth Jaap Stam gets in front of JT26 I do not know.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Together, Gattuso & Pirlo were more pivotal. Beautiful performances by those lads.

Anyways, incredible Italian defence. Conceding 2 goals throughout the tournament, one a Zidane penalty, and one an own goal. Bellissimo!

Top performer for many years, for different clubs in different leagues, and he has all the trophies to prove it. JT does not.

JT would probably have the CL if it wasn't for one crucial slip. JT has won a hell of a lot domestically and has immense European pedigree, having featured in a CL final and several CL semi-finals.

Stam has played for two of the world's biggest clubs, successful at both, JT hasn't even played for London's biggest club :hysterics: Absolutely no pedigree.

Raul

Look at the amount of world class strikers that have come and gone since Raul broke in the team and yet up until this season had always been the leader and most important player at RM.
