Bayern Munich boss Louis van Gaal has criticised Lyon for rescheduling their fixtures to better suit their UEFA Champions League preparations.

Van Gaal is considering making a formal complaint to Uefa after it emerged that Lyon had been granted a fixture reschedule to allow them more time to prepare for their clash with the former German champions.

Lyon were expected to meet Monaco on 24th April but the French Football Association has allowed the club to shift their fixture to May.

Van Gaal says it is unfair that Lyon have been allowed such a change when his side have an important Bundesliga tie to contend with against Borussia Monchengladbach just three days before their trip to France.

"I will be ashking my director of shport Christian Nerlinger to requesht that Uefa forbid the French FA from making thish poshtponement and to reversh it," he told Munich's Tz newspaper.

"The French FA thinksh that thish geshture makesh it eashier for Olympique to reach the final and I think thish ish right.

"Uefa hash got to keep an eye on and regulate thingsh like thish. That ish no longer fair play."

Should the change stand, Lyon will now face Monaco on 12th May and will have no competitive fixtures in between the two legs with Bayern.

"If Uefa organish competishons, then they have got to enshure that the conditionsh are the shame and that ish no longer the cashe," continued Van Gaal.

"Obvioushly it ish not posshible for them to asshert that everybody playsh on the shame day and I can undershtand that, but to put a game back so far ish a different thing altogether.

"That should not be allowed."

Bayern can afford no such luxuries due to regulations stipulated in a contract with television broadcasters and the Bundesliga.

Their request to have their league clash with Bayern Leverkusen put back just 24 hours after their trip to Manchester United last week was declined which meant Van Gaal's side were forced to play three games in the space of just seven days.
