Robin van Persie is poised to be named as a substitute for Arsenal's trip to Tottenham on Wednesday night if he comes through a training session later on Tuesday. The striker, whose last club appearance was at the start of November, is on the verge of making a comeback after five months out of action with an ankle injury. According to The Daily Mail: 'Van Persie came through a full training session unscathed following five months out with ankle ligament damage. Wenger will see how Van Persie fairs in today's training session before making a final decision on whether to select him.' The Daily Express says that Van Persie, who started training again with Dutch amateur side AFC Amsterdam last month, has 'shocked players and officials with his fitness, which he maintained in the gym and pool, and is desperate to give his club a title boost.' However, while Van Persie seems likely to be named in the Arsenal squad, Tottenham are once again set to be without winger Aaron Lennon. In a disconcerting injury update for both club and country, The Daily Mail reports that Lennon 'was forced to undergo another scan on his groin problem yesterday and will not play.' Spurs will also be without the injured Niko Kranjcar and the suspended Wilson Palacios, but Ledley King should be available. Wanker |

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Dutch striker Robin van Persie will be in the squad to face Tottenham on Wednesday. The 26-year-old has been sidelined for five months after rupturing ankle ligaments whilst on international duty last year. His absence has been a big blow for the Gunners and they have failed to find a regular force up front since Van Persie's injury. But they are still in with a shout of Premier League glory and they travel to White Hart Lane to face Spurs in search of three points that would keep the pressure on at the top of the table. Wenger expects the Holland international to feature during the North London derby, although he would not reveal if he would start. "He will feature, he is in the squad for tomorrow's game," he said. Asked if he would be in the starting XI, Wenger added: "It's a bit premature maybe so I will see, but he's in the squad, I haven't picked the team yet. "When I pick a player it means that he is fit and sharp and he has worked very hard. "Of course he lacks a bit of match practice but physically he is ready, he is fit. "There's always a gamble, I don't want to deny that, there's always a gamble in such kind of decisions. "But in his case we have been a bit more cautious because he has had a long time of preparation. "He is a very important player at this club and he is important for the confidence of our offensive power and he is a player who can contribute as well. "I am very happy to have him back. The sadness was that we lost him very early in the season. "Of course we would have loved to have him for the whole season." |

Will be great to see him back, just a shame he hasn't been available all season.

I hope Wenger is not playing a injured player again like he did in the 1st leg game at home to Barca. When will Wenger learn? |

I doubt he'll start. The last thing we want to see is him get injured again in a frantic opening half an hour as it's very likely to be. Wenger will/should hope we are level or ahead with an hour or so gone, and bring him on as the pace drops to life the team. |

This is Mr Wenger we are talking about Trig. You know the manager who plays injured players all the time and then throws a strop when they are ruled out for months. |
