Words have been flying around the football scene recently claiming that the Barcelona side of 08-10 are the greatest club side of all time, but many still find this hard to believe after witnessing years of beautiful, efficient sides such as Milan, sides with attacking flair and unbeatable cohesion such as Arsenal's 03/04 side; so I ask, who is the greatest club side of all time in your eyes and what made their achievements so spectacular?

I think that there's a few you could argue in favour of, but the problem for me is that either they've not been around long enough (Barcas' current side), were around too long ago (Real Madrid circa 1950's), didn't do enough (Arsenal 03/04) or I was too young to get anything other than the highlights (Milan from late 80's to early 90's). The best I've seen is Barca from last year, but I still think they need a couple more years to show that wasn't a flash in the pan.

This Barca side is the best I've seen. It plays the best football, has the best player, and won the most trophies.

going unbeaten was an incredible feat but they werent an incredible side as proven in europe. im not sure about 1990's milan since i was too young but certainly in my football watching career barcelona are top, and by some distance. just the thought of being drawn against them in europe has me expecting a humiliating defeat.

What Seven said, although i did watch a fair bit of Milan in the early nineties. I just don't remember it really clearly, except for the fact that their defence was otherworldly.

I've put them above our lot because they won a hell of a lot more points and did a wholoe lot better in Europe. Find something half interesting or unpredictable to say you little tosser

Milan 87-94 (Long period of course, much of core stayed throughout i.e. Maldini, Costacurta, Baresi, the Dutch contingent etc.):- 4 Scudetti (including 3 on the bounce), 3 European Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 2 Intercontinental cups. Long era of that Milan side, which you could cut down a year, but any longer than that and then you would be excluding much of the same players that stayed throughout the period.

------------------Galli----------------
Tassotti---Costacurta--Baresi----Maldini
Colombo---Rijkaard---Ancelotti---Donadoni
-------------Gullit---van Basten--------

In '94 you were looking at the introduction of the likes of Desailly, Boban, Albertini, Panucci etc. Two great managers in Sacchi & Capello, they led "the immortals".

Some might argue over the order but as far as I'm concerned, these are the five best teams of the last 15 years. No question.

1 - Barcelona 2009
2 - Man United 1999
3 - Juventus 1996
4 - Arsenal 2004
5 - Barcelona 1994

For me CHelsea 04-07 are certainly up there, absolute machine of a side. Barca are the best I've seen though.

Winner.
