United are going backwards and really need some marquee signings for me, there's only so long they can rely on Scholes and Giggs.
really? lost two of their top players in the summer, including arguably the best player in the world and their currently 2nd in the league and narrowly missed out on the CL semi finals.
So they've lost players, done worse in the CL and are doing worse in the league - having lost six or seven times when the general quality is lower than last season anyway - and you say they haven't gone backwards!?!?!?
Our targets were to challenge for the league and do well in Europe and we've met them considering every cunt was writing us off at the start...

We've still done worse and I don't think anyone can deny it. Even if we win the league this season we'll still have fallen short of the previous two seasons' acheivements.

I think Fergie may still be banking on Anderson blossoming into a brilliant midfielder, that's why he's not willing to go all out for signings like De Rossi, Pjanic or Hamsik. I suppose we do also reputedly have Hargo to return in that department, so I doubt we'll see any big name CMs arriving at the club for a very, very long time - unless you count J. Cole as a midfielder.

I do have faith in this unit, however. The defence is solid, and will continue to be regardless of Rio's form so long as Vidic stays put. The performances of Nani and Valencia this season have really given me some hope, and I can see these two - but especially Nani - building on their acheivements this year and becoming very decent players.

Obviously the main problem is our reliance on Rooney, and that's why my summer would be completely and utterly made if Fergie managed to procure the services of Benzema on loan next season. That would just be the greatest thing ever.

Much of our losses are due to the fragile back, VDS injured, Ferdinand injured, Vidic injured, Evans injured, Neville injured, O'Shea injured, Brown injured, Fabio injured. Taking that into consideration, United have done well. Losing Tevez, Ronaldo and Carrick is still playing in the first eleven. Good season.

I can't see Valencia improving much technically next season, his rise in form late this season is due to the boost in confidence and understanding with other players.

You forgot "Rafael being in the side" too.

And yes I agree about Valencia, and that's why I'd say Nani is the more exciting prospect for next season despite LV25 being fucking quality.

You were plagued by injuries last season as well remember... either way it's irrelevant; United have gone from best team in the world, to best team in England, to best team in Manchester in the space of two years, the latter might status might not last long either...

Winner.

Hernadez interview:

How does it feel to have signed for United?
It’s a dream and I feel so happy. I’ve really enjoyed my week in Manchester – the stadium, the atmosphere at the club and the history are incredible and I want to do great things here.

You were at the game against Bayern – what did you make of the experience?
I felt a lot of things and, as I said, I’m living a dream. The atmosphere was incredible with all the fans singing. It was fantastic to see.

You’ve met Sir Alex – what are your impressions of the manager?

He is a great person and probably the best coach of all time. All my impressions of the team, the club and the city are incredible.

Your family must be very excited at the prospect of you playing for the Reds…

Yes, they are. My family are my biggest supporters and have been there with me through the good and the bad times, so they’re very pleased.

United are playing in Mexico this summer – what reception can the team expect?
The best. In our country Manchester United are the top team and the reception they will get will be fabulous.

united just can't win when it comes to signing players, if we sign players for 30+m, we are buying the league, if we don't and buy youngsters, we havent got any money, priceless how rivals twist things to suit them

You mentioned him, but I've seen him recommended so many times by clueless United fans, wasn't LF specific.

To say we're going backwards is just not right. We sold Ronaldo and let Tevez leave so on paper you can quite rightly say we're not as good a team, even though only one of those players would be in the team this season if we had kept them.

So people look at our season, we're out of the CL at the quarter-final stage and second in the league, just two points behind. This is not "going backwards". Cup competitions have an element of luck about them and this season it just didn't go for us. We were undone by a moment of pure brilliance and a moment of madness from Rafael played a big part in why Bayern even had the chance to score that wonderful goal. Little details not going our way is why we're out, it could've happened last season, it could've happened the season before when we won the thing. Not enough to make me believe we're going backwards as a club.

Then there's the league, so if we don't win it this season we drop from first to possibly second, and only two points off the top, if this means a club is going backwards well.. I just find that funny. There's a fine line between first and second and if we fall the wrong side of that line, it's not exactly a backwards step. Mr. M got it when he said, we've challenged for the league and CL and that's what we set out to do at the start of this season and indeed the previous three seasons. We've done what we set out to do - Challenge.

If we miss out on the league, we end up with no major trophies but that can happen and it doesn't automatically mean we're going backwards. It means we haven't won a major trophy and nothing else.

Why? Because of his attacking midfielder tendencies?

Yeah it's not even a tendency it's just his natural position and it's a position not suited to playing for United, he is in no way a CM.
