I wouldn't pick James in the starting line up either, Begovic is a better player than him, he's looked really decent for Portsmouth when I've seen them; however he should definitely be in the squad because his experience might prove invaluable. Hart should take the jersey though, with Green as backup.

Hart, James, Green

In defence the back four picks itself: Brown, Rio, Terry and Cole. I'd add Johnson, Lescott and Upson to that, Cahill and Jagielka waiting in reserve for when Rio's back gives in.

Brown, Rio, Terry, Cole, Lescott, Upson, Johnson

Gerrard and Lampard are obvious choices, as is Beckham with him being a great person to have around the camp. After that the number of decent options runs a little thin, with both Carrick and Barry being the best of a bad bunch of midfielders who underperform when the pressure is on, hopefully Hargreaves will be back by then. As for wingers, Lennon is a certainty, and then after that I'd probably pick Milner and Joe Cole, the former because he's been brilliant this season and the latter because he's a proven performer in an England shirt, unlike the likes of Walcott, SWP and Ashley Young.

Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, Carrick, Barry (Hargreaves if fit), Lennon, Milner, Joe Cole

Up front, you obviously take Rooney and Defoe, with Crouch, Bent and Heskey completing a front five that offers plenty of options.

Rooney, Crouch, Bent, Heskey, Defoe.

I doubt our chances with that squad as soon as we get to the quarters, but you never know, we might get lucky.

Erm, been playing on my mind for a while, ever since I came back from Barcelona; I just thought it was a bit wierd not doing so, there's plenty of things I love about this country and I'd like to be on the same side as all my mates for a change this summer.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

This has hit you hard hasn't it Ant?

I wasn't turning anything off, because I wasn't really supporting anyone else, just the Barca players; and I wouldn't call it turning anything on either, merely not being so arrogant and pathetic as to think the world owes me a favour and that I'm better than the country I live in.

:hysterics: :hysterics: It has hit me hard because I thought you were a better kid than this but I was wrong. To think people can actually turn on and off support for a club sickens me, and yes you are clearly turning on some kind of support because you've gone from hating the side to calling them "we" and "us" within 2 days, and someday soon you'll do the same with Barcelona.

I don't think I'm better than the country I live in, I don't like the culture and footballing culture of the country, so I don't support them and I don't see why people feel obliged to support the England NT. I don't support any world cup nation, but I have a few nations that I'd like to see win it. Same with the Champions League, I don't support a club in the CL, but it doesn't mean I can't hope that Arsenal or Inter win it for example.

I wasn't having a go at you mate in that last post, you can have your beliefs and I respect you for sticking to them, I was just saying that looking back, I think it was me who was being rather pathetic.

Call it turning on if you will, I think it's just me changing for the better as a person.

How can you be from London and support Man Utd?

My parents didn't drum England into my head, the NT has always been full of twats and still is now, the media is disgusting, and I generally have no passion or feeling towards them or the country. That's how.
