Following the deposition of England's most natural leader, myself and elmo were discussing leadership and in what ways it can be displayed.

What do you think the qualities of a good leader are?

Being able to inspire people, to make them believe in themselves, get them pumped up, set an example to help take the team to the next level.

I.e. Be Steven Gerrard, Carles Puyol or John Terry.

Winner.

Gerrard is not a good leader, he masquerades as one due to his 'talismanic status' but he really isn't. The inspirational role of a captain is severely overated in sport generally. Look at Flintoff and Pietersen:both shit captains.

How many Deschamps games did you watch live and what exactly made him inspirational?

Fuck off Ant, I read it on Wikipedia and it knows more than you do.

But, interestingly you seem to have labelled 'inspiration' as a key attribute of leadership - care to explain why?

Zidane was a captain...

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Yeah, as was Henry mate...

I should have put 'none of them would make/made good captains'.
