John Terry has been dropped as England football captain following a meeting with the national manager Fabio Capello over his alleged affair, Sky sources say Capello flew into the UK on Thursday amid continuing speculation that Terry could have to quit his role as the side's skipper just months ahead of this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa. The player had made no announcement regarding his captaincy, which was cast in doubt following claims that he had a liaison with the ex-partner of former Chelsea and current England team-mate Wayne Bridge. Capello flew into London's Heathrow Airport from Switzerland, where he has been recovering from a knee operation. The Football Association made it clear that Capello alone would decide the 29-year-old Chelsea defender's fate. Capello did not stop to speak to reporters as he was ushered through Terminal One and into a silver Mercedes. The manager walked with a clear limp as he made his way through airport arrivals. He was understood to be keen to have the captaincy issue settled before he travels to Warsaw for the qualifying draw for the 2012 European Championships this weekend. Married father-of-two Terry has been the subject of many lurid headlines over the past few days, detailing his alleged relationship with Vanessa Perroncel. She was believed to have been offered up to £250,000 for her side of the story - but has now decided she would not be selling her story. The allegations relating to his private life came to light after a gagging order was lifted by Mr Justice Tugendhat at the High Court in London on Friday last week. |

Hahahahahhaha, amazing. He's the only player in the side worthy of being captain. Now England have no captain, and will now be relying on a crack addict like Rio to captain the side. England for the WC? My God it gets less and less likely with each day. |

It's between Rooney, Gerrard and Ferdinand. Rooney is no captain, he's scum, and his disciplinary record speaks for itself, never captain material. Gerrard has been recently done for smacking some lad in a bar, and Ferdinand is a crack head who was too afraid to turn up for a drugs test. There is literally no person with an untarnished record who could take the captaincy other than Lampard or Barry

Get the fuck in Fabio, teaching the rodent a lesson. Installing discipline into the team, especially after the stories of JT's "We run things around Chelsea". Cojones! |

The FA have released a statement confirming it. Ferdinand will be the next captain as Capello has said "I chose a vice captain and there's no reason to change that" and it's Ferdinand who was his vice captain. |

Yet they bum Rooney to high heaven in a desperate attempt to raise false hope and rally the nation behind the team, thus ensuring increased sales in the months leading up to and during the World Cup. That's the sickening hypocrisy of hacks. |

I think it's right that he was axed. His carry on was discraceful for a married man with kids. Doing alicia douvall shows such a lack of class on his part. |

Quote from the GOONBOT FA Cup final is the same day as the Copa Del Rey final. I hope I don't have to miss Arsenal. | |

Anyways, captain for England isn't a pivotal role. There are enough leaders in the squad already, Terry being one of them. If Capello had come out of this saga much weaker, maybe due to a soft stance, that would be a cause for concern. |
