There is no way anyone can prove that Baresi would be as good as he was but for how good Baresi was back in a day when football was not as underdeveloped compared to today's game as some might think, I think it's a safe enough bet to say he would be more than okay.

I think my point about Barca's 1994 'Dream Team' was a good one, that team played unbelievable stuff, hammered Utd 4-0 and that was a fucking good Utd side, they were an incredible side and they were completely shut down by Baresi and co.

Baresi wouldn't take very long to figure out how to stop today's attackers. He is Italian after all.

Baresi played in the modern game, that's why we know he would be good in the modern game. It's not rocket science.

Please stop going on about him being Italian, I saw fucking Cannavaro play at Real Madrid. :hysterics:

In terms of fitness, dieting, quality of pitches, press attention, pressure etc, football has advanced massively since that final so yeah, although you'd still call it 'the modern game', it's still a bold claim, especially if what you're going on is reputation and, at best, a few videos.

Winner.

If Baresi was around now he would have the benefits of improved training techniques, diet etc., making him even better if that's possible, so shit argument. I get the feeling he was probably dedicated to always being in prime condition anyway.

Ffs do I have to spell it out? You can't know that, it might be too strenous for the bloke, the faster pace, the pressing style etc - particualrly in european games, he might look shit in a comparatively poor Milan defence. Yes, in all probability he might turn out to be just as good if he was respawned now, my point was that it's still an assumption rather something with any substance.

Get this into your heads: NO-ONE IS ATTACKING BARESI. ROLLING WASN'T. I WASN'T.

Bringing up the point that he might not be any good because of the small developments in the game over the last 15-20 years was stupid to do in the first place, because the chances of that being the case are so fucking slim.

No, Rolling did even worse by suggesting the game has progressed loads since then when it really hasn't at all.

Congratulations Pele - world's best ever footballer.
Once again, Pele was around a lot longer ago than Baresi so it's far harder to judge how he'd cope today even if he did have access to the advanced training methods and diets. But if you're going to try and catch me out like this then at least get it right and say "Congratulations Pele - world's most talented footballer ever".
