If Rio can stay around and build on his impressive last two games then our defence should be fantastic. JT is the best on the planet right now, and we all know that Ferd's class when fit. Ashley Cole adds considerable solidity too, but the real issue is Johnson. I can see that costing us dearly tbh. In big games or against decent attacks I'd even go so far as to suggest Brown should start there.
i'd put Richards there to be honest.
I'd put Richards in the fucking bin as soon as possible. He's honestly an awful player. Terry and Cole are decent for ENgland, but the lack of a decent goalkeeper, right back and, to a lesser extent, a decent right sided centre back, will see them concede a fair few, just as in qualifying.

Winner.

Yes, but thankfully Capello is the manager.
:deepthought: Richards has been better than Johnson and Brown. Richards has been one of City's best players this season and has improved a whole lot this term and the only thing that's been holding him back was his immaturity.

Brown rarely plays and has looked nothing like he was in 07/08. Johnson is struggling with injuries and not really playing like he was at Pompey and yet you would pick both of them over Richards?

fuck off rolling

last season yes, this season he's improved a lot. in the short time under Mancini he's looked a better player. the guy has ability and like Rio he can lose his head but under the right manager he can develop in to a top defender IMO

Rio is world-class when fit, and I think he probably will be by June. If not then yes that will be a huge issue for Fabio to deal with.

Honestly what the fuck are you talking about? Richards didn't start the first game under Mancini, most of which he's played at fucking centre back at any rate, he was utterly shat on by Evra last week when he did play right back as well. Richards is a waste of space, I'm presuming you're basing the statement 'he's been good under Mancini' on one run where he ran in a straight line for 60m, passed the ball, forgot to stop running and happened to boot it into the net?

Elcule's really showing himself up here. In the first leg he was immense, shat on by Evra?! Hardly, he was top class that game.

Ant please leave this thread, you seem incapable of forming a decent opinion on a team that plays in blue this last hour.

Richards was outdone by Evra consistently last week, that's for sure. He looked far more comfortable against Giggs last night, but that was largely to do with the fact that Giggs' lack of pace didn't allow him to capitalise on Richards' poor defending. He won't be near the England squad IMO.

England obviously. Two best centre-backs in the world and the world's best left-back. No brainer.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

We have a whole host of dodgy keepers though Scholes.

If they put Joe Hart in goal then it's England easily
