Rooney has been a very good player for a few years now Ant, has scored 16 CL goals and had a reasonable record in the PL, over 1 in 2 but nowhere near 1 in 3. Before you say "16 CL goals? What a terrible record and they were all against shit teams" I'd like to remind you that Raul, RvN, Shevchenko etc. didn't score all theirs against Europe's elite either, they also scored plenty of tap-ins!

He's only 24 and could very well rack up as many as those players by the time he's done in the CL. He's stepped up his level in terms of goals this season and those dry patches are becoming less frequent.

Some of the players I know you'll say are better than him were doing nothing 3-4 years ago, some will have barely graced the CL, or not even scored as many as Rooney has already scored this season or in 2006/07 so Rooney will have proved more than them no matter how much you think otherwise.

So average? So wrong Ant, so very wrong.

I agree that everything gets blown up when he does something, like MOTD for the first leg semi with City for example. Some good movement in the box from Rooney no doubt about it but it's the sort of movement you'd expect from a top striker and the sort you see every week really but MOTD done a 10 min special on the movement, 10 mins they wouldn't have given to Eduardo, Torres, Drogba etc. although they would highlight it.
I'm glad you spotted that because I happened to be sat down watching that part with my dad and I said to him "you're a pretty poor striker if you don't make that movement", and MOTD was wanking it off completely. Disgusting stuff from the cunts at MOTD.

Btw I love where you say other strikers haven't proved themselves like Rooney has :hysterics: What exactly has Rooney proved? That's he's been shit for 5 years and now he's finally got the chance to have the side built around him he's finally able to score a few tap ins and penalties in the games vs Hull and Pompey? Unproven, and a big game bottler. So average, and not top 15 in the world.
Two of the worst posts I've ever seen on here, even by your standards your bias against Rooney has become ridiculous. You've already been shown up saying that when Rooney scores goals consistently you'll rate him, but guess what he has and you still don't and you never will. Never produces in big games yet scored the winner against your lot and set up the move for the first goal, he's scored a few times against arsenal and Chelsea not forgetting his 2 goals against ac Milan in the cl semi. Perhaps being a city fan you don't know what a big game is.

He was top scorer in European qualifiying for the world cup and, before you say England didn't play anybody, Spain and holland had easy groups. Yes he is over hyped by the English media, which is something they do with most English players, but nowhere near the extent you under rate him. At the end of the day you will never rate him whatever he does so any post you make needs to be taken with a massive pinch of salt

I'd like him to name these 15 strikers because there are going to be some absolute shockers in there.

Err, why?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart
