Well it's completely even this season.
I hope you don't mean that literally.
Excluding pens I'm fairly sure they've scored an equal amount...

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Here - take this back to your mother. It's a present from the King" - King Pele as he hands the matchball to Fontana after owning Vasco in '63. LEGEND OF THE GAME

Yh ok. I could make an argument about how Rooney wins most of the penalties he takes, but I suppose that doesn't really come under 'scoring'.

Anyone who thinks that that text is rubbish is just jealous and a cunt. Anybody here tried to say that they'd look an idiot but, Fontana probably thanked him for the gift.

Overrated piece of shit. Doesn't even have to do anything to gain wankage from the media in this country. On Wednesday, he got the ball, turned and shot from the edge of the area and just as his leg was pulling back the commentator shouted "GREAT SHOT" literally before he'd even got his shot away, and then the ball went easily into Given's arms in the centre of the goal. Then on the replays the commentator, in desperate need of wanking material says "look how he managed to get the ball to bounce infront of Given". Absolutely pathetic and it makes my blood boil. He is a good player at best, nowhere near top 10 strikers in the world, has never produced in a big game and in this season which is currently rated as his best he's been a tap in and penalty merchant.

This is a world cup season, and the English media are building him up something rotten in a desperate ploy to gain some hope for the world cup, to gain some pride in the pathetic country and to delude themselves into thinking England actually has a chance of winning the world cup. Inevitably it will all end up shit again, England knocked out at the QF stage after Rooney goes missing for 90 mins, but then when the final whistle goes it'll be the defence or keeper's fault and the back pages will be consoling the poor Rooney and telling us all he deserved better while mourning another loss on the big stage.

It pisses me off to no end when people complain about strikers scoring tap ins. He used to get criticised for not scoring those goals and now he's getting into the positions to do so and he's being criticised for that too? It's a fucking joke. And as Manyou said in a thread earlier Lampard scores penalties. Ronaldo did. Yet they're praised for scoring so many goals. But because it's Rooney it's (another) criticism. It's absolutely pathetic...and it's something used by people who have something personal against him.

I agree about the commentators though...they really do wank off everything he does/tries to do lol. It's embarrassing at times.

I agree that everything gets blown up when he does something, like MOTD for the first leg semi with City for example. Some good movement in the box from Rooney no doubt about it but it's the sort of movement you'd expect from a top striker and the sort you see every week really but MOTD done a 10 min special on the movement, 10 mins they wouldn't have given to Eduardo, Torres, Drogba etc. although they would highlight it.

But Ant you cannot dismiss his efforts completely. So what if he' scored a few pens, it's not his fault that he's the designated penalty taker, not his fault the pens are given, all he does is score them and fair play to him. They also say good strikers follow up on rebounds etc. and Rooney has capitalised on some this season which have resulted in some of his tap-ins, the others come after some good movement and instictive runs. Surely he has to be credited for this. I mean as long as I've been watching the game, I've heard players been praised for this sort of stuff an you will find that all good goalscorers have scored plenty of these type of goals which contribute to their impressive goal tallies but with Rooney it's different and frankly, it's disgusting.

Just like you rightly say that it gets blown up because he's English, it's the opposite with you. If he was an Italian called Wayne Di Roonio and played for Parma you wouldn't shut up about him, seriously. You're saying he's nowhere near the top 10 strikers in the world which suggests that you think that there's at least 15 better than him but the fact of the matter is there isn't and you know that deep down.

He can do no right it seems but well, we all know he has offered a lot to Utd even though he wasn't scoring enough in the past but this season he is, but you say things like oh he has fuck all assists knowing quite well that he provides plenty every other season. Ronaldo didn't provide too many assists in his 42 goal season either, it's the price a player sometimes pays for being the main goalscorer. I mean very rarely will a player achieve a handsome amount of goals and assists, Thierry Henry is one to have done this, one of his seasons in particular but it doesn't happen a lot.

The man is just loathed by people and they refuse to acknowledge his true ability and value but those of us not blinded by hatred, bias against Man Utd, English players' class know he is a very, very good player and if he continues this form for the rest of the season and replicates it next season well I don't think anyone can really say he isn't world class.

You'd probably still say there's 15 better strkers and name players like Lisandro, Dzeko, Tevez and a few others who also haven't really prived themselves as much as Rooney has or that they haven't shown the quality Rooney has shown. While others like Pato will have a goalscoring season like Rooney has had once or twice in a league you rate and instantly they are unbelievable talents. Pure madness.

I'm glad you spotted that because I happened to be sat down watching that part with my dad and I said to him "you're a pretty poor striker if you don't make that movement", and MOTD was wanking it off completely. Disgusting stuff from the cunts at MOTD.

Btw I love where you say other strikers haven't proved themselves like Rooney has :hysterics: What exactly has Rooney proved? That's he's been shit for 5 years and now he's finally got the chance to have the side built around him he's finally able to score a few tap ins and penalties in the games vs Hull and Pompey? Unproven, and a big game bottler. So average, and not top 15 in the world.
