Because without Berbatov they dont have a top class replacement who can play week in week out but being United they would most likely play 4-5-1 since they care more about their defence. |

And United are shit with Rooney up top on his own, and a top class replacement wouldn't have been bought, so I'll ask you again Homer, is Berbatov being available great news for Arsenal?! |

i would normally dismiss the defense comment, but i do believe with berbatov in the side we need to be tight defensively, this about not contributing if he's not running around is idiotic, you can make meaninful contributions without workrate, look at the contribution afforded the team by cantona, he wasnt a workhorse was he, yet he got himself involved and the team itself revolved around him, will we ever see this from berbatov, no, most matchday going fans can see this, it seems others can't, the pro berba brigade seem to think he adds something we need, he doesnt, he detracts from the team going forward, infact in the short time diouf was on saturday, he offered more than berbatov(or infact rooney) had offered all match, a willingness to move and find space, and it paid off for the lad when he bagged his goal, a goal you will never see berbatov score as it needed a bit of bravery, he could have been clattered by the 'beast', diouf took his chance and scored, would berbatov took that risk, absolutely not |

Rooney plays on his own with England alot of the time but he is better playing with a targetman but whether Berbatov is the right partner for him im yet to be convinced. Is it good news for Arsenal? I dont know but Berbatov doesn't exactly cause you heartache. |

Yet another diabolical post from Diego, if something isn't glaringly obvious you fail to spot it. When Berbatov starts for us seldom do we struggle, and that's been the case ever since he joined. I don't have full stats but this season alone he didn't start 4 of our 5 league defeats. We're a much better team with his inclusion and as for Diouf's goal, if Berbatov got to the bouncing ball he's not going to get out the way of it

i agree berbatov doesnt look the right partner for rooney, and imo rooney is less effective because of it, it could also be the other way, with berbatov needing more of a robbie keane type player to link with, and i sure youre right homer arsenal & chelsea will hardly be having nightmares about us whilst we struggle up front like we have |

To say Berbatov doesn't add something to our team is sheer lunacy, it's absolute madness. Whether you're at OT or you're watching on Sky Sports the fact of the matter is, we are so sloppy and devoid of ideas, that bit of creation in the final third is simply not there. Berbatov could do a bit more but as far as I'm concerned he's bang on to be dropping deep at times, I mean he can't rely on Carrick, Fletcher or even Scholes to bomb forward and be the link between an ordinary midfield and an isolated attack. Criticising Berba because he wouldn't have latched onto Valencia's pass like Diouf did is also a bit silly because okay maybe he wouldn't but there's a lot more things Diouf wouldn't do that Berba does, Dimitar is lacking that bit of urgency but Diouf hasn't got the ability or intelligence to do what Berbatov does. |

scholes you seem blind where berbatov is mentioned, and you seem to think berbatov isnt in the team to score goals, but he is, but unfortuneately he doesnt provide it, he does produce the odd bit off nice skill but fails in his next touch(a finish) as seen on saturday when he collected a ball beautifully, but snatched at the shot, i was going to post a thread on berbatov on saturday, because i was so angry with his(and rooneys) performances, i decided against it as he IS a united player and will still give him time, but patience is running out, not just with me, but with the rest of the 75.000+ fans on saturday and inded at every game |

If Man Utd wanted more creativity they should have bought Sneijder. |

Rooney has spent the last 5 years snatching at shots but he doesn't get too much stick over it. Berbatov is obviously getting very anxious in front of goal because of his lack of goals, this happens to all strikers and it's not really fair to criticise hi over it, especially since he's the only player in the team that was capable of making that chance for himself, you'd never see Rooney display such a nice touch to set himself up, it would roll harmlessly into the keeper arms. |

In open play, Rooney has scored 11 goals in 21 PL starts this season, whilst Berbatov has scored 7 in 13 PL starts. In terms of goals to starts ratios, there's hardly anything in it At least Berbatov's goals have come when we've most needed it, the opener at Stoke, equaliser against Sunderland, opener against Blackburn and the opener against Burnley. When the deadlock is yet to be broken I'm more confident that Berbatov will break it than Rooney, Rooney hardly ever scores when we're in desperate need of a goal and it's been the case for his entire United career.
