Arsenal V United 02/03?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Yep. I was gonna suggest that :D That was the PL's greatest ever rivalry, will take something special for something to get close to replicating it. Best chance of that is probably City vs United in the coming years.

I remember the build up to this match very well and alot of people were saying whoever won this match would have a big advantage in the title race. Saying that after being defeated in the manner we did at OT in 04/05 I was really pumped up for the return leg and I remember the date was Feb 1st 2005 but the worse game of all time was a year later at Highbury dear me what a bad match that was.

1-1, Henry, Saha?

Anyway, this 2-2 match was incredible. I remember the adverts for it had 50 Cent - In Da Club soundtrack

Nah 0-0 at start of 2006 it was such a lacklustre game considering what we have been used to.

OMG I WAS GONNA SAY THAT! It was the first time I ever heard that song, Sky sure knows how to get a cracker on their adverts. I remember Henry scoring his second, and RVN's goal was sheer class.

Solskjaer was sent off in that game wasn't he? Foul on Campbell I think.

That was a great game and I would say the most eagerly anticipated. What an amazing season that was, I remember in January or something, Wenger or one of the Arsenal players practically saying they couldn't be beaten to the title and Utd went on a monster run winning something like 17 of our last 20 games and the closer we got, the more Arsenal looked nervous in games.

We beat Liverpool 4-1, Newcastle 5-3 I think and then Arsenal 2-2... Those 3 games were one after the other and even in the form we were in, you always thought that we would slip in one of those games but I don't think even the most optimistic of Utd fans thought we would crush Liverpool and Newcastle so comprehensively before drawing with the Arsenal, after that it was a formality, the momentum was with us 100% and Arsenal's last chance to stop a Utd team that was like a machine was gone. Happy days.

My memory of all this is so hazy, i was doing far too many drugs during that period of my life. It's all just a big blur.

Yeah me too Trig. My memory of recent games and especially 90's games is pretty good but it's a bit blurry from between 01-04. That being said, I will never forget how we came through those three games and that run-in was one of the most exciting ones ever.

no the opposite, campbell was sent off for a flailing arm into solskjaers face

newcastle vs united 96, newcastle so far ahead, united had to win to keep hopes of the title alive, cantonas goal and schmeichels goalkeeping earned united a 1-0 win and the rest is history

No Campbell got the red for sticking his mammoth arm next to Solskjaer and the diving rat did the rest.

And Solskjaer didn't dive at all, it was a deserved sending off, pathetic from Campbell, swinging his arm around like a lunatic.

Oh yeah Campbell got sent off. It wasn't really a dive by Solskjaer but he did make a meal of it I admit, unlike Ole it has to be said but Scholes is right, Campbell shouldn't have been waving his arm around like that, it was like the sort of thing Vidic did to Rodallega a while back. Reckless but with a bit of intent, correct decision regardless of how Ole reacted..
