this is pathetic this whole issue. if they take action against Wolves then Man U should be punished for fielding a weak side against Hull on the last day of the season back in May.

Yes it's a rule but no other team seems to follow it, so why should they? Like Mecca said, Man United could have done it against Hull last year but they didn't, and nothing happened then. Even in the Carling Cup Arsenal field a load of young players, and even though it's not a bad team it's certainly not a full strength team (if the rule applies to the Carling cup too).

ARSENE WENGER blasted Wolves for playing a second-string team in Tuesday's defeat at Manchester United.
The Arsenal boss rapped: "It was very disappointing. We will have to compete with Man United over 37 games now and not 38.

"It's sad but what can I do about that? I'm responsible for Arsenal."

Molineux manager Mick McCarthy made 10 changes to the side who beat Spurs at the weekend.

United brushed Wolves aside 3-0 but Wenger's men had to face a full-strength Burnley 24 hours later and dropped two crucial points.

He added: "It's a problem for the international credibility of the Premier League."

Wenger is frustrated with fixture planners who gave some teams a midweek rest.

Several clubs had a free week due to others' Europa League commitments.

Wenger added: "The Premier League has a basic problem in organising the fixtures in a normal way.

"There are some teams that don't play at all and we play Sunday, Wednesday away and on Saturday against Hull who haven't played all week."

Wenger's frustration was compounded by an injury to skipper Cesc Fabregas.

He added: "He will not play on Saturday. It's a hamstring problem."

Clarets boss Owen Coyle was delighted with the draw and said: "This is a very, very big point for us."

making excuses for failures again i think

This would be pathetic if they got punished. So fucking what if they fielded a weaker side, that's what their squad is for. We done it against Hull and that's not where it ends, teams have been doing it for years, didn't Liverpool also do it against some team and Neil Warnock had a moan about it.

Anyways things hardly ever turn out differently anyways, Hull couldn't beat us last season but Newcastle could capitalise on it either way would having our first team on the pitch make any difference, I think not. On to Wolves, well if they want to fied a weakened side, then let 'em. They might just end up regretting it at the end of the season, whether they go down by a point or even by a goal. They're well within their rights to do it, but at their own risk.
