You can complain at me laughing at it, but not at the fact that I did.

I apologise if I'm being really thick here, but what's the fucking difference?

Rolling and Scholes, I get your point, but surely this indictment can be levelled at any athlete - all Dwain does is run while all Steve Backley did was throw. :deepthought:

The sport matters. Look at Thierry Henry, Lleyton Hewitt, Rafael Nadal, Phil Taylor. All play sports where their personality shines through and their charisma is on show. I don't see how a long-jumper can achieve that, though I suppose it's possible. Similarly F1, but I'm a bit more open to that I suppose.
Erm, well Bolt is a one dimensional athlete, similar to a long jumper, sososososo much personality. Phillips Idowu has crazy crazy hair and is known as abit of a personality on the athletics circuit I think. So we've decided now that SPotY is about personality then rather than just sporting achievement?

No you're not being incredibly thick Scholes, I think I probably worded it poorly. Allow me to elaborate: you can complain that I laughed at something you found obvious, crude and unfunny, but you cannot dispute the fact that I did laugh, and the very fact that I did laugh gives me the justification for praising Zeezoo - whether it was a good joke or not, I still benefitted. :)
I know you laughed, that's what I 'complained about'. That and praising Zeezoo come hand in hand, but enough of that

I was thinking of Bolt and he'd definitely be a contender. But let's not forget he's the fastest man the planet's ever seen, he jogs the last 20 of a sprint and has created sporting history, history that can be perceived as powerful. So on that basis, sporting achievement of course matters, but it still has to be coupled with charisma, giving said sportsman an aura. The four examples I gave certainly have/had one.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

I was genuinely asking what the premise of the title of SPotY was, are you meant to vote for a bloke who obviously has acheived but who also has a top personality or isit all to do with aporting achievement. It would seem the former, ad yes I agree with you Scholes, the four you mentioned all have it, but Bolt proves that an athlete can as well - even a long jumper

Haha yeh, all Giggs does is kick a ball. While we're at it, Idowu? All he does is jump ffs.

Winner.
