hold on Liverpool play 4-2-3-1 right. Gerrard is in the middle of the 3 with Kuyt and Riera/Benayoun on the wings and Lucas and Mascherano are the 2. Benayoun central would mean dropping Gerrard, will never happen, or pushing him wide to accomodate Benayoun in the middle is what your saying yes?
What relevance does this post have?!?! And yes, I would play Benayoun as a #10 in place of Gerrard if the choice was up to me. I prefer my attacking mids to be brilliant creative hubs with close control.
quite a bit but i'm not posting anymore. i'm going to the pub.

1. Err, are you fucking stupid? You said Barca were STEAM ROLLED at SB. Midfield possession stats go a long way in disproving that.
2. Uhh, yes, 2006 is 3 years ago. You could have said 1900 was 109 years ago and it would have the same relevance in this debate. Hleb was class in 2008 mate.
3. Carroll isn't a goal getter. He doesn't have great technique. He can't play an individual game. He doesn't use the channels like Drogba.

You have been completely destroyed mate. Vote for Scholes, but please don't lower the standard of the forum mate.
Yes, I said they were streamrolled, because they were. Chelsea waltzed through Barca's midfield and were a lot quicker to the ball, Barca's possession was mainly due to Chelsea's counter-attacking game plan. A midfield can still be streamrolled even if they have more possession.

Your one example of Hleb having fight was based on 2006, the next - just now - being from 2008, both are rather irrelevant, hence my 2006 quote. I've just proved to you, and by your silence I'm presuming you agree, that Hleb had no fight at Barca, far more pertinant to how good he is, considering it's a "here and now" draft team.

All of those points about Carroll - despite being guesses - just back up my argument - he has a similar style to Drogba, but just isn't as good.

I don't know what your defintion of destroyed is, I'm presuming it's as off-the-mark as your definition of steamrollered.

Winner.

Scholes uses PL players only. Why was that?

Out of the two, i'd say Scholes looks more solid overall but Wrightys attack is much more potent imo where as Scholes Attack is quite shit. Senna is a class act imo and would do well against Scholes Attack whereas Scholes midfield wouldhave a much tougher time up against the nimble Wrighty midfield. Wrighty gets my vote.
YOU IMBECILIC PIECE OF HORSESHIT DID YOU NOT READ A WORD I SAID IN THAT OTHER THREAD THE TWO TEAMS ARE NOT PLAYING EACH OTHER ARRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

PL players only and my team is amazing, what an achievement.
If there not playing each other then it makes the gulf in class even bigger imo.
HOW THE FUCK DID YOU WORK THAT ONE OUT?!
Im not here to take abuse Scholes, im here to cast my vote and move on. Wrighty will be more then happy to give reasons, and seeing as its his team, i feel he should be the one to justify what i've said.
Mate, I know you're not changing your vote, I'm just perplexed by your deafness and now your latest comment...how does that make the gulf in class bigger?!
Your team looks solid enough, but ultimately i can see it being rather stale and lacking that cutting edge or something special to do well over the course of a season. Look at the attacking players you have in your side, and and look at the clubs they play for in real life (bar malouda)and it makes sense to see why i cant imagine them being on fire. Wrighty's on the other hand has attacking threats in abundance and you'd be hard pressed to see many sides stopping them from banging the goals in every week. Your team on the other hand doesnt pose such a threat. So on a 1v1 basis your side could well stifle wrighty's and win the match, but if you want to look at it in a perspective of a whole season then it just makes it an even bigger case for Wrightys team to get my vote, for reasons stated before.
How is this a great post lol, he's made a single point

My team would be fantastic throughout a season.

Rio, Terry and Gerrard are leaders of men, whilst Kuyt, De Jong and Given are strong characters.

Wrighty has Senna and his full-backs, that's about it. My team has the makings of pure consistency with all those great mentalities.

I think people are underestimating Steven Gerrard, best player in the PL last season, and Adebayor is a top striker, a much more potent player than any of Wrighty's attackers.
Scholes

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Thats insane, to put Ade above Anelka is lunacy and obviously bias is playing a part in your thinking here Scholes.

Im not implying that you did. I can see that this is going to go down a very pedantic alleyway with you harmonicoring on about what you meant by the word 'potent', and for that reason, im out.

Duncan Bannatyne actually. And i know it has a meaning, however to apply it to football could bring about grey areas of mixed interpretation, something im not going to get involved with you. your the fucking worst.

Adebayor is much more potent than Anelka, and a much better player in Scholes' system than Anelka is in Wrighty's system.

There's no doubt in my mind that Scholes' team would win in a head to head, but as we're not going by that principle i vote for Wrighty because the technicians in his team would rip apart standard teams week in week out.

And get fucked over in the Champions League knock-outs.

I'm dreading that some imbecile will get confused with my CL reference.

Hleb is utter shit, doesn't even shine for Stuttgart. Wrighty made a complete hash of his team, Benayoun and Hleb in positions they don't function in, not to mention the fact his 5 most advanced players are of the same ilk.

And my back 5 are superior, my keeper and CB partnership rape the shit out of his alternatives, and whilst his full-backs are the best, mine are top drawer.

dags midfield choices are weird to say the least, and i havent been convinced by his explanations. scholes team (esp the wingers) scream mediocre, but its a solid team and system that i would fancy against some of the worlds best teams.
