Yes, yes. Central as in behind the strikers, yes.

Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that. And when you win a championship - and we will - success isn't measured or accomplished by winning once.

Your team looks solid enough, but ultimately i can see it being rather stale and lacking that cutting edge or something special to do well over the course of a season. Look at the attacking players you have in your side, and and look at the clubs they play for in real life (bar malouda)and it makes sense to see why i cant imagine them being on fire. Wrighty's on the other hand has attacking threats in abundance and you'd be hard pressed to see many sides stopping them from banging the goals in every week. Your team on the other hand doesnt pose such a threat. So on a 1v1 basis your side could well stifle wrighty's and win the match, but if you want to look at it in a perspective of a whole season then it just makes it an even bigger case for Wrightys team to get my vote, for reasons stated before.

Great post.
Yup, sense has been spoken.

That post has reinforced my vote for Wrighty.

Hleb is brilliant with the ball at his feet but that's about it. would be useful if your defending a one goal lead in injury time and he's not as quick or creative like Iniesta going forward. Benayon is good going forward and that's about it i would say. offers nothing defensive from that midfield role
1. Hleb is a more creative passer than Iniesta. Tries a lot more things. Not as quick going forward or as good off the ball, you're right.
2. Benayoun is fantastic defensively, presses non stop.
Benayon is not. he has no intelligence or positional sense defensive wise if he had then he'd be playing in ther einstead of Lucas. the guy is a winger and is effective further forward. the lad has gas to track but you wouldn't bet on him winning the ball or making a tackle.

Why the fuck would Liverpool play its most creative player in a holding midfield role?

Like I said, I don't care that my team is voted against. But as I predicted the reasoning is pathetic.

1. This is the midfield that, without Touré, was absolutely fucking steamrollered at Stamford Bridge, and strangely enough, dominant with Touré vs Chelsea at Camp Nou. Don't tell me height and physical presence have nothing to do with football, because they do. Barca are lucky we don't play in a league with physically stronger midfields, otherwise the need for Touré would be even more pressing (why do you think he starts every European game?).

2. You're talking about the Hleb of 3 years ago mate, I'm talking last season; he had no fight. Couldn't cut it in a big team.

3. Yes he does, not exactly the same, but similar. Don't even try to debate that, I watch them nearly every week and something tells me The Championship isn't high on your watch list.
1. How the fuck were Barca steam rolled? Check out the possession stats mate, no way in hell were Barca 'steamrolled'. Barca's problem was in the final third.
2. 3 years ago? Its one and a half mate, and he's not changed anyway. Been putting in fantastic CL performances for Stuttgart.
3. What is Andy Carroll's playing style? What is Drogba's? I'd really love to hear what you say lol.
Who gives a fuck about possession stats?!?!?!?!?!

2006 was three years ago.

More or less a jack-of-all-trades striker. Attributes common to both of them: Is build so can can hold it up, can flick it on, can hold the ball, can run with it, comes deep a lot, great aerially, gets wide and behind defences.

Winner.

Oh, and Paddy, Liverpool play a 2 man CM, I'm playing 3. You do know that Liverpool play 4231 right? You do know that Benayoun is naturally a central player right?
he's been in the prem like 5 years wrighty and i've never seen the bloke play centre. either he plays wide or behind the striker

1. Err, are you fucking stupid? You said Barca were STEAM ROLLED at SB. Midfield possession stats go a long way in disproving that.
2. Uhh, yes, 2006 is 3 years ago. You could have said 1900 was 109 years ago and it would have the same relevance in this debate. Hleb was class in 2008 mate.
3. Carroll isn't a goal getter. He doesn't have great technique. He can't play an individual game. He doesn't use the channels like Drogba.

You have been completely destroyed mate. Vote for Scholes, but please don't lower the standard of the forum mate.

hold on Liverpool play 4-2-3-1 right. Gerrard is in the middle of the 3 with Kuyt and Riera/Benayoun on the wings and Lucas and Mascherano are the 2. Benayoun central would mean dropping Gerrard, will never happen, or pushing him wide to accomodate Benayoun in the middle is what your saying yes?

What relevance does this post have?!?! And yes, I would play Benayoun as a #10 in place of Gerrard if the choice was up to me. I prefer my attacking mids to be brilliant creative hubs with close control.
