CM from Livorno, loves to get forward, carries the ball so well and has all the creativity and vision you'd expect from an Italian midfielder. You'd sign him for 10m or less, perfect for United alongside a player like Fletcher. United need to sign Fabiano too, that'd take priority for me. |

Hmm.. Well he sounds interesting, I just hope Fergie and/or the Utd scouting department are aware of him, we have been buying a lot of young Italians in recent years so maybe we are. I would take Fabiano alright, he and Rooney would play well together. I would have Lisandro aswell but he's not gonna be going anywhere for a couple of years at least. I wouldn't be very much in favour of ditching Dimitar though, I really like him as a player. My thoughts would be that with those two wide players, one who's a bit like Ronaldo but without the goals and some of Cristiano's not so likeable qualities and the other who is a little bit like Nedved to be honest, not just in looks, if we added the right sort of CM to the side I think we would get a lot more out of the front two. As it is, well they don't score enough really and I don't think it could ever be a really potent strikeforce, one that bangs in 50 goals per season. So someone like Fabiano would definitely make sense. I'm just glad we have a player who looks like developing into a pretty good talent, our team on paper does look a little ordinary so it's nice to see a player like Obertan emerge, it gives me some confidence that we might not be that far away from building another really nice team. I hope we show real interest in Krasic in the coming months. Would love Lloris too, he looks like a great keeper, the sort of keeper you'd have full faith in. He doesn't ever look nervous or indecisive, there can't be many, if any up and coming keepers better than him. |

I honestly see no place for Berbatov in the system that we play. If he could stay fit, I'd be in favour of Owen partnering Rooney up front. I'm not saying this because of the hat-trick tonight, I just think the side would function better like that. Berbatov is a fantastic player, but we don't need him. |

I wouldn't be in agreement, RS. I think last night was a one-off against a team that's not even that good anyways, okay their strikeforce seems a handful but the rest of the team, not that impressive for German champions, I'd much rather playing them than Bayern to be honest. I've seen in enough games that Berbatov makes a big difference to how fluent we are in attack, if he doesn't play then Giggs is a must. For me, the thought of playing our best team WITHOUT Berbatov, Giggs and Scholes is a scary thought (It's actually quite shambolic going forward, especially in the final third) and if we got rid of Dimitar along with having the other two a year older or even possibly retired next season we would want to have something special lined up. The only downside to Berbatov is that he's not scoring enough goals but if your talking about consistent performances, or talking about overall quality in any given performance then he's absolutely miles ahead of Owen. Owen is a squad player, at this stage in his career, how much his quality has diminished. I don't think a club like us should be ever considering making him first choice. Even in his prime, he played up front with Rooney for England a lot and probably produced less goals than Rooney and Berba have done. For me it's not an option, Dimitar brings much more to the team, it's got to be him or a new top class striker. Edited by ManYou, Dec 9 2009, 02:35 PM.
